New shoes, then went dumpster diving. Super happy with these Michelin defenders so far.

 

I'm the same way, I have 0 extra lights. and all my mods are practical and have been either second hand or super steals.

2.5" of lift is usually where most switch over to aftermarket UCAs. Is the spring sitting on the spring perch correctly? Is it bowing outward at all? That much lift is a lot to ask of the stock springs.

That's why I was asking recommendations about other (narrower) coil springs, brand and dimensions ?

 

Aftermarket coils aren't going to be a smaller diameter. They need to be a certain size to work on the shock body. You need UCAs to help clear the spring.

OME is the go to spring if you're sticking with the 1500s. SPC or JBA are good, inexpensive UCAs. Contact @HeadStrong Off-Road and they can steer you in the right direction.

It might be a good idea to check the ball joints. My control arms were really close before I changed the ball joints.

Installed JBA UCA's. At the alignment shop now.

 

Hey Scott96929, hows the ride now with those JBA UCA'S. Would you prefer JBA's to uni-ball uca's?? I'm hearing the new Icon UCA's with teflon are the shit and the new best thing.... What's your take after 8nstalling JBA's?? Thanks in advance... Bros of the Taco!!!!!!

 

I originally had SPC's. They were great. Lasted about 3-4 years. They started squeaking and then unable to hold an alignment. So I decided to try these JBA's and WOW. Huge difference. I like these a lot. But to each their own man. Everybody has there own opinion. I'm happy with this setup. I'll never go uniball. Even after greasing the uniball, a few days later it starts squeaking again. I've only driven about an hour with the UCA's. These definitely give you a lot of caster.

 

Painted the grills to match the rims, looking good so far, no time to pull the branding for the same treatment

 

Long week. Ended up putting on the OME dakars (EL095R) with the wheelers ubolt flip kit and SuperBumps. Also put on a pelfrey t case skid (thanks Jerry!) that I was missing. Finally I built a drop down tire carrier following a write up I found on Overlandbound’s forum. Cost about $100 for the 2 parts. When it’s down, the tailgate has full clearance. Now to setup a backup camera..
