list of tires for 255/85/16

I wanted KMs (no 2) in the 255/85/16 size but couldn't find a set. According to BFG, the only KM still available is 255/75/17C. These are ~32.2x10s.

I just ordered a set because I really wanted KMs. Should have them next week.

 

I am considering this size and the KM2s when time to upgrade. Does it require regarding the truck?

How do they perform offroad with the all terrain tread pattern?

I was also curious, I read that the 255/85/16, when properly deflated, have the same footprint as a 285/75/16 as was curious how that was possible?

 

Maxxis makes a 255/85/16 Creepy Crawler, but they dont sell em in the states.

 

I got 4 of the last 25 Km1 tires made in this size from what they guy at the shop was telling me. I would highly recommend them if you are able to find them. I am running about 2.5" of lift all around (suspension). they do well in SW VA snow and never had to put it in 4wd to get the truck off the wet boatramp.

They are awesome in the sand/dirt around here. I havn't tried them in real mud yet but they seem to do good in the yard when it rains lol (my mom's 4x4 F250 got stuck in the yard once for some perspective). Not sure about the deflating stuff.

How do you go about driving them in sand and such, what tire pressure do you run and how do they "coast" or feel in sand thats a little deep?

 

I haven't had them in real deep stuff yet but airing down would be key. They would like to dig otherwise due to the narrowness.

Im nervous lol I dont know whether to go with the BFG M/T or the Cooper A/T...

I have a bad taste in my mouth for M/T only because I bought a shitty set of them for cheap and they turned out to not be what I hoped, but on the other hand with the M/T I managed to get stuck so maybe the A/T isnt the best choice?

the 85% aspect allow the tires to have a longer contact patch when deflated. even the the 285 75s are wider the do not have near as long a contact patch. the patch of a 285 is 9% wider than the 255s but the 255s contact patch is 10% longer so they are the same
