i see. well interestingly my BFO is starting to return mpg numbers in the 20's. you may remember i never saw above 18 for the first two years. BFO is helping me relearn how to drive this thing. and it's working.

It just amazes me about the struggle of the factory tune. I have zero reason to feel this tune would not be compliant, Base or FOB. Not to mention the MPG bump that Toyota Corp could use. Dafuq!

It would be fun to try BoFO, but I am very content at the moment.

    Well then.

I really don't have an option with BoFO since I'm dongless. :anonymous:

I also went back to the BFO test tune and prefer it immensely over FOB. I'm hoping that whatever Mat is working on for us ends up feeling more like BFO

Had no choice. Truck developed a mechanical issue and the dealer offered me a trade deal on the spot. Gave me $28k for my truck. Couldn’t resist and they had a 17 T4R TRD OffRoad with 20k on it and offered it to me for $27k.

don't think I'd go so far to say that myself, but like @mZiggy says it does seem a bit stronger in the mids. i personally think FOB has a stronger low end from idle. but the thing that brings be back to BFO is the Otto feel and sound being more present than FOB and that's helps me connect with the machine, more feel. just my .02.

Any consensus on how long to run a particular tune before switching? On the AT I was running two whole tanks of gas before trying a new one.

You can switch whenever but the general consensus is 400 miles or so for it to settle before deciding you don’t like it unless there is major issues

Not necessarily. Just a different allocation of power perhaps, maybe a little bit more down low, especially down under 2k.
I actually think that BFO idles stronger overall, including down lower. To me, the truck seems to run healthier or happier on BFO.

That being said, the biggest reason I keep going back to BFO is basically what @St.Germain described about the Otto feel. There's just something subtle there that makes me feel more connected to what's going on with the truck, more so than what FOB provides. :notsure:

If you didn’t have the tune when BFO was released is there any way to get the file?

It's also a test file that was distributed to some people by Mat upon request, and awhile back Mat made it clear that there was to be no more file sharing among customers.

Looks like my tune is arriving Monday :D Between now and then, I need to come up with a Windows 10 laptop (I’ve only got a Mac). Any recommendations on something cheap that’s sole purpose will be to install this (and future) tunes?
