What do y'all think? I'm wanting to submit this through the insurance mostly for the cracked headlight tab and cracked trim around the front grill.

If it wasn't for that I'd tackle it myself just pop everything back into place. 901D9254-4753-40DD-B925-2BD8C5E0912C.jpg3C1D3CA4-58E1-4428-86ED-438B752A4488.jpgE6293E93-610C-4A90-9989-E64CC25AF5CB.jpg3A15AEE4-9B2B-4DD0-B730-C5049763C920.jpg

Scratches and dings happen over the years, but this isn't a scratch, and it's not a 20 year old beater.
I bet that's gonna cost more than you think to make it right again, especially that fender - hood alignment. I pay for insurance to cover incidents like this, bet your ass if it were mine, I'd be on the phone with my agent first thing tomorrow morning. Unless your driving record is for shit, it's time for them to earn their paycheck.

I've never been able to glue cracked plastic worth a damn. With all the vibration involved, I'd get new plastic while you can.

If you have a decent insurance company, reasonable deductible, and a clean at-fault record, you’re rates will not go since this is parking lot bump out of you’re control... as stated above, this isn’t a cheap under the deductible repair (to make it right).

I'd see if the lot has any security footage. If so, find the person who did it and let the insurance company go after them.

I'm not so sure it will as it was a hit and run. Like the other comment says it was out of my control, I may be wrong though. I do have the thought of will my premium increase as an influence on whether to submit or not.
I have progressive, which I don't think is a bad company. I can cover my deductible as I know it will be pricey with how many parts got moved around.
It was home depot and I always park far from the crowded spots, doubt it covers that far back. Plus I'm out of town right now. I'm from Houston and currently in San Antonio for Easter. I'm not sure how troublesome that would be tracking down someone from a town I don't even live in.

I would submit insurance claim if I was in your situation. The hit&run will be classified as "Comprehensive Claim" which is basically shit happens and not your fault type of incident.

You'll pay your deductible and insurance will cover the rest. Your rates will not go up.

I'd polish the scuff mark out and just say you hit a deer

Don't know how believable that would be. I had a coworker hit a deer entering the work parking lot at 4:30 am. He was going 25 mph and it TORE his fender up, knocked off his front bumper and left his headlight dangling.

It was a hit and run during a parking lot maneuver and that's that.

I would hold off, it’s not that bad. You never know if you’ll be in another accident or hit by someone else. You can make the claim anytime since it’s gonna end up being on your own insurance. I would roll the dice and see what happens.

I think you got more than minor damage. That cracked headlight housing will run over $500 to fix. I hit a deer and my damage was worse but concealed damage really drove up the cost on the repairs. My original estimate was $3500 and quickly doubled when they started to tear my truck down. Im concerned about your hood alignment. My fender was not damaged but the inner fender was.

The gap on that fender might fly if it was a Tesla. I think he should get it fixed

I'd do everything I could to hunt down the sorry sob who did it and one way or another they would pay for the damage. I hate conflict but sometimes you gotta act like a bull in a china shop otherwise people will continue to bend you over...

Someone needs to read their policy and coverage definitions. I'd love an explanation on how one vehicle colliding with another meets the definition of comprehensive aka "other than collision"

I’ll bet a few guys here have had a gap about that size straight from the factory. I’ve seen lots of people fix shit like that to smack a deer 2 weeks later or get into another accident and have to get all the work redone again. Just my opinion, but the damage is so slight I wouldn’t want the risk of my premium raising. I’d beat that’s about a 2k claim with replacement parts and paint. More if they put a new fender on.

Not trying to start an argument or anything, but if your car was hit, you cannot find the person who ran. What happens then? Insurance will not fix it? You are "SOL"? Other than collision can be defined by cause of inconvenience not by yourself.

Just coming from my experience, my previous car. Parked on the side streets. Hit by whomever, thus I cannot find the person. Insurance took care of it under what I mentioned to OP.

Now if you know more deeply about policys then perhaps I'm in the wrong then correct me.

This was $7000 to fix. The fender and hood were not damaged. I lost the radiator and condenser from plastic pieces that impaled them. I tried the JB weld suggestion. It didn't hold from the vibration. I know your truck is not as bad as mine was but don't be surprised when the costs start adding up.taco wreak 052.jpg taco wreak 051.jpg taco wreak 051.jpg
