Mine area always on. They are on with the license plate lights during the day in bright sunlight. Can't figure it out.

Bought the Carista ODB thinking it would allow me to turn them off but no luck.

Any ideas how to turn the tails off when front DRL's are on would be welcome.

With only the DRL's on, my tail lights DO NOT come on. The only time my tail lights and license pate lights come on is with the Fogs and or Headlights. Are you running with your Fogs turned on?

Something is not right. With my DRLs on, just the led strip on the headlights are on. No taillights, no Lic plate lights.
Did you buy the truck new or used.
If new any mods to electrical you have done?
Post a pic of your light stalk in the position you normally have it.

Something not right. With the stem switch on DRL, that's all you should get.

If somebody screwed with the electrical system in ANY manner, start there.

I have my lights on auto all the time. Can't really figure it out. Everything else works as normal though.

I bought the truck used CPO. How would I figure out if someone messed with the electrical system.

I bought a carista thinking it was an option to have them on but no options available to change on the app.

Do you have actual automatic lights? Or, are you sure you don't just have the headlights turned ON, and your truck is automatically turning them off when you turn the ignition/engine off?
I sometimes leave my lights on, because I'm so used to my other vehicles having automatic lights, but my OR doesn't actually have automatic lights, it's just turning them off, like it would any other electrical consumer, to keep the battery from dying.

If you have the stalk in the Auto position, there may be something blocking/shadowing the sensor, therefore it thinks it's dark. Are your headlights coming on too?
Please post a pic of your light stalk and the position you keep it in.

Yep, I have auto lights. I have the sensor on the passenger side. And it says auto on the light knob.

Humm, that doesn't look right, and you do have Auto :D
Headlights are not on, but parking lights are, I'd disconnect your aftermarket lights first, and see if that fixes it.

That's a good point. I'd think if the entire system was truly "automatic" it would automatically turn headlights/ running lights off, and DRLs on, but Toyota engineers don't care for my input :p

It's almost as if when in Auto, its really in parking lights mode. What happens when you turn it to parking lights?Capture+_2019-04-21-16-36-54.jpg
