I spent almost no time working on the Tacoma this winter except to put in a new switch for the bumper light bar...

I got the Trepadors mounted and decided to go with airsoft BBs to balance them since they're gonna get chunked up and need to be rebalanced often anyways. I had good luck with BBs in the past on a set of bias ply Super Swampers so I hope that they work again.

Some tubbing may be required

    IMG_20190419_175004.jpg

I started going down the list of what I want to get done before wheeling and it's just a few things....
    • Rear DS U Joints
    • Spark plugs
    • Fuel filter
    • Upper ball joints
    • Rear diff fluid
    • Transmission fluid
    • Lower control arm bushings

Welp, sucked it up and ordered a bunch of stuff I'll need:

Plugs, air/fuel filter, LCA bushings, UBJs...

I have some stuff on the shelf for it already
    • Transmission fluid
    • Rear diff fluid
    • Extended stainless rear brake line from Wheelers

Going back and forth on adding a 1" body lift too

I read a lot about energy suspension and whiteline and decided to go with the whitelines. OEM bushings would have been OK but theoretically poly ones will hold up to more abuse

The energy ones count on reusing the bushing sleeve from the factory bushings which I am not too optimistic about being able to do.

Dope yeah Whiteline is what I was looking at doing too. Just need to find the motivation to tear all that shit apart...

I know what you mean, it's really hard to find the motivation to tear that far into things. I'm trying to make one big push so I can wheel and not have to do any maintenance this summer wheeling season...

Your truck is your only vehicle too, right?

Nah I have this shit box that I've been neglecting for the past 2-3 years since I got the truck. Finally working to make it my daily again since it gets decent gas mileage and is a bit quicker than the truck. But I need to put A/C and power steering back in because I was an idiot like 7 years ago and tore it out thinking I had a race car.

Less tubbing required and a little more room to try and tuck the trans and transfer case up

Looks like a race car to me :D

Looks like a lot of fun though! Did you keep the AC and PS stuff when you took it out?

I get that. I went around and around with that when I rubbed mine.

In the end I decided to tub for the most realistic worst case so I did it before my BL. Honestly, tubbing just sucks anyway. The only thing worse is having to do it over again if it isn’t enough or it leaks.

That being said, it’s pretty freaking cool to stuff a 315 all the way to the bump at lock and not rub anywhere :D

I tossed the A/C stuff but that's ok. I need to convert to an R134a system anyways and that requires pretty much all new stuff. Still have the ps stuff though, that should be easy.
