Is the factory backup camera plug and play? I have someone that wants to buy my factory nav non jbl stereo for 300 and I’m on the fence about the whole thing.

I read through your whole thread and it sounds like you did a ton of work getting everything right. What are your thoughts of what you did and how it came out? It sounds like I’d have to do just about everything you did.

Let me think that over. I can post a better response when I'm at my computer tomorrow (typing with my thumbs is not my bag).

I will say I am very happy.

Now that I am at a keyboard.....

I knew buying my truck that sooner or later I was going to gut the audio. I thought that keeping the OEM head unit, but throwing in new speakers and an amp would do the trick, and it mostly did. However, the OEM head unit has processing that lowers the bass as the volume gets higher, so it will protect the OEM speakers. Therefore, I was getting all kinds of bass drop off.

I fell into the "Audio upgrade for $250" mob-think and was underwhelmed. The kicker tweeters on the dash were nice, but all the other speakers had too many tweeters, so I mix/matched with some stuff I had from my last truck to cut the number of tweeters down.

Then I decided to go with some pseudo-high end speakers in the truck and really heard the bass drop off, so the head unit had to go.

My thoughts on what I did?: I should have started out this way, rather than fumblefucking my way through trying to make the OEM head unit sound good. My system impresses the shit out of me right now. Is it the best system on this forum? Not by a long-shot, as there is some ridiculous money that gets thrown around on audio on this forum. But it is really good for the price I paid all together, and I'm extremely satisfied. When I crank it, I get giddy AF.

About to go ham nuts on the audio equipment.
Just pulled the trigger on the DDX9705S because of your build log. Thanks for the info and pictures in this thread. My only question is, on the left D-pad of the steering wheel do you retain the track skip/back function using the idatalink maestro?

The Skip/Back function is the up/down on the right side pad on the steering wheel, but only when the info screen in the gauge cluster is on the music page.

Im about to show you something, that if you havent seen already, you wont be able to unsee...

Looks like the dash kit has this issue, I have it on mine and have seen it once already elsewhere. I'm going to pick up some small washers to hopefully address this.

I had to do the same thing a few times to get mine aligned correctly? and i ended up having to use much longer bolts too.

Lurking on the forum and gleaning a great deal of information from others who have taken the dive into aftermarket head units.

    QUESTION:
    - How much functionality did everyone lose on their dash cluster screen?

Really disappointed with losing the navigation on the dash cluster screen but expected it. Hoping that someone, somewhere in the Maestro realm or aftermarket radio engineers will figure out how to improve on these dash cluster screens.
