I'd tell them about that deer I hit and pay my $100 comp deductible.

I do hold an active valid insurance license. Collision is the coverage in play here not comprehensive. Could be UMPD if OP's state is one that offers uninsured motorist property damage. Regardless will be a not at fault accident, but still by definition a collision.

I would deny it as soon as I looked at it and change to to collision.

Who can’t do that? Me as a licensed adjuster? I for sure can change a claim from comp to collision. Done it several times.

Collision, is a car crashing into you or you crashing into an object. Comprehensive is vandalism, fire, flood, hail, tree branch falling down. At least that’s how my policy is.

This could happen to someone several times over the course of a few years. No way would I want my premiums increased or being at risk of being dropped. Like I already stated you can make a claim at any time. I would just ride it out a bit.

If he buffed the scuff off you wouldn't even know it was a deer strike. This is all hypothetical, but i'd never trust insurance companies or insurance adjusters. The ultimate goal of both is to limit the loss via the policy holder getting fucked with either substandard repairs or a lousy pay out.

And I never trust guys like you, you chose where to get your precious truck fixed not the insurance company, so if it is substandard its on you.

And you guys don't steer to one of your preferred shops, use aftermarket or shit parts. About a decade ago I had a slime ball adjuster try and recommend to my chosen body shop to install a used quarter panel on a one year old car and needless to say things got ugly. with the help of a lawyer I flat out told them i'd reject the repair and shove it up their ass. The body shop sure wasn't on board to save the insurance company the money it was the adjuster. They wanted no part in drilling out hundreds of spot welds to get a panel. The adjuster got taken to task and I ended up with my new panel and a properly repaired car.

As long as money is flowing to your insurance company everything is gravy but the second money starts flowing the other direction the shit hits the fan.

I suspect the headlight tab will not hold up as I drive on rocky roads going to work, and I do take this thing off road as well. The fender and hood alignment is something I do not want to bother with. I have not priced out a grill surround yet but I also haven't considered the time to remove old and replace. I've mostly decided to just go through the insurance.
I'm about 90% in favor of that decision.

    I also recommend insurance fraud.
It's a victimless crime (oh, except for all the stupid honest hard working insured). Also insurance adjusters are dumb. They'll totally believe that a deer made a tiny dent in your plastic bumper.
