Been sitting around and thinking about the future of this truck. It is about to hit 91K miles and is about the most sorted and reliable its ever been. But, its time for the next chapter because age is taking its tole.

I'll address some things in different categories.

    Cooling:
the HPS silicone hoses seem to have finally stopped leaking, however...I either need an aluminum radiator or a new thermostat, or both. My coolant temps are already in the 200* under load.

Thinking I could do either a new 180 or an aftermarket 170 degree thermostat.

The aluminum radiator idea worries me with off roading...

    Brakes:
Rears need replaced this summer for sure. Going all OEM. New drums, new spring kit, new shoes, new wheel cylinders.
I also want to do stainless braided brake lines all the way around that are longer for when the truck gets taller (which we will address soon).
And of course, its time for a brake fluid flush as well.

    Chassis:
My energy suspension poly cab mounts are rusted to fuck and i am now starting to get a creaking noise from the back of my cab on the passenger side. Something must be done to address corrosion...its completely unacceptable.

    Suspension:
I have decided i want ADS fanciness, they supposedly have the best corrosion resistance out there. Likely mid travel or close to it. I want this thing to ride like a cadilac every where and take whoops and bumps like a beast. LT is out of the question completely. I want a lot of travel and flex.

So, i need UCAs, i need to decide on whether or not i want to rebuild the LCAs or just get full replacements and do cam tab gussets etc.

The rear, keep my sumo springs as my bump stops. I want Dakars but I also want some great flex. Maybe hammer hangers or something like that will be needed.

Ubolt flip kit is also needed, and i'll have to find out how to make it work with my sumosprings.

    Engine:
I have new spark plugs to go in....I still want to do headers and a custom exhaust....but that may not happen just yet...

    Beater Situation:
I still fully intend to buy a beater this year. I found a 3rd gen 5spd 4Runner that I would like to have so that I can try to keep the truck nice for longer.

I need to get info on UCAs

There was a thread to do a ubolt flip kit with sumosprings, I have to find that again.

I also need to research getting more flex out of dakars....hammer hangers or whatever...

I have much learning to do

Replace the bushings in your shackles with poly ones. The stock bushings really limit droop. This is dakars with stock leaf mounts and poly bushing in stock shackle.

    So no shackle relocate?

Seems like a solid idea....so burn the bushings out of brand new dakars? :bananadead:

No shackle relocate. And do you have the old style dakars? Only the front one needs to be burned out.

I don’t have anything new yet.

I’m trying to plan out my next steps. I’ll be getting parts together over the next 10-12 months

The new dakars use all poly bushings, and you can buy OEM Toyota shackles for $30 a pair that have no bushings in them. Poly bushings drop right in and it’s so easy. B110 shocks are a good inexpensive option to go in stock location to take advantage of the droop. You’ll need +4” brake lines as well

I’m doing the brake lines very soon. My brakes are terrible. Hopefully i can tie the extra lines up out of the way for the time being

Like tie the slack outta the way? Really no need, at least with +4”. I have mine from wheelers and they’re nice quality.
