    It's not bad really, other than some getting used to way less power on command. The 5.7 with 8 speed tranny can get up and move. It also handled trips with a full cabin, loaded bed and trailer with ease.
    MPG wise, the Tacoma has been better so far, but I drive pretty conservatively. The 2017 Ram CCSB Big Horn 4x4 was able to get good MPG on longer trips. I got over 24mpg hand calc on occasion. Ram's avg MPG was 17.4 when she left me, but that average was severely affected by winter gas. Averaging 18.9mpg with the Tacoma.
    The interior space and some tech is a big difference. The Ram was very spacious on the inside and made for comfortable long trips and some of the options were really nice to have, but not necessary. I feel like the Tacoma has what I need without any extras that happen to come along with the trim.
    Parking, the Tacoma's narrowness really comes in handy since I have to park in some tight spots. So even thought the overall length is very close for both trucks, the narrowness helps a lot. The narrowness is also nice on the trails, the Ram cut it close many times.
    Overall, the Tacoma makes more sense for me right now, I don't NEED the power and size of the Rams currently. I loved my RAMs, never had any problems with them. So far my experience with the Tacoma has been great. No regrets so far.

    On a side note, I prefer the 2012-2018 body style over the 2019s.

    I feel very much the same. That’s what is keeping where I am with the Tacoma. It’s just an easy vehicle, that is the best way I can putting it. I miss the V8 for power but it really that important for 90% of my driving. I just want to be able to pull my camper without worrying about weight.

    I have not done any towing yet with the Tacoma so I cannot compare that for you, I'm sure some other members can help you out there.
    I do miss the v8 power for sure.

    The Ram 4 corner spring suspension was a super comfortable ride, and I hear the 4 corner air is even better.

    The Tacoma pulls the camper great for what it is, it’s no V8 or diesel but good enough. I just don’t like worrying about being overweight, I have my family with me. The reality is I might pull my camper 6 trips it’s not worth the expense right now.

    Sounds like you have exactly what you need right now, and that's what matters. I will probably end up with a full size truck again at some point, but for now the Tacoma does everything I need it to, and it grows on me more every day.

    Lots of cars before, but my wife and I started buying Toyotas in 1987, a 1986 Toyota (Space) Van LE being our first.

    Since then, we have had:

    1992 Toyota Previa Van (Used)
    2003 Toyota Highlander LE V6 (New)
    *2015 Toyota Highlander XLE V6 (New)
    2014 Toyota Rav4 XLE I4 (Used)
    1987 Toyota Supra Nat - Auto (Running Project)
    1989 Toyota Supra Nat - Auto (Running/not running Project)

    And Toyota Pickups:

    1988 Toyota SCSB I4 - 5 Speed
    1993 Toyota ExtraCab SB V6 - 5 Speed
    2004 Toyota Tacoma DCSB TRD OR - V6 - Auto
    *2016 Toyota Tacoma DCSB Limited V6 - Auto (Yeah, all Limiteds are Auto)

    * Current

    So far this has been our Toyota collection!

    Memories....Just for clarification::anonymous:

    Is it me, and maybe my mind is slipping, but last I heard, Tacoma(s) weren't built until, like 1995? Before that they were just Toyota Pickups, the Hilux being 70's and before?

    Okay...looked it up:

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Successor Toyota Tacoma (North America only)
    The Toyota Hilux (also stylized as HiLux and historically as Hi-Lux) is a series of light commercial vehicles produced and marketed by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota. The majority of these vehicles were sold as pickup truck or cab chassis variants although they could be configured in a variety of body styles. Most countries used the Hilux name for the entire life of the series but in North America, the Hilux name was retired in 1976 in favor of Truck, Pickup Truck, or Compact Truck. In North America the popular option package, the SR5 (Sport Rally 5-Speed), was colloquially used as a model name for the truck, even though the option package was also used on other Toyota models like the 1972 to 1979 Corolla. In 1984, the Toyota Trekker, the camper version of the Hilux, was renamed as the 4Runner in Australia and North America, and as the Hilux Surf in Japan. In 1995, Toyota introduced a new pickup model, the Tacoma in North America, thus discontinuing the Hilux/Pickup. The 4Runner is now a full SUV, and the more recent models of the Hilux are separate in appearance from the Tacoma.

    Lack of power and terrible transmission. I just got back from a 1200 road trip and the truck struggled to keep 80mph the entire time.

    It's my first truck in a LOOOOONG time. Had a old Nissan 2wd manual trans back in high school. Maybe should have voted first truck as that Nissan more POS than anything. Plus I hate truck people and can't believe I'm one of them now. In all fairness though I also hate car people.

    My dad handed me down his 2000 Silverado when I left for college. The 2016 Tacoma was the first truck I bought on my own. No looking back!

    I had a 97 2.4 5 speed single cab taco, then an 04 same drivetrain, up to an 11 ram, ended up in a 15 Camry, then a 17 sr5 & now a 18 off road
