Trailer Backup Camera Switching?

    I just bought my first Tacoma: a 2015 4.0 v6 4x4 that I'll to use to tow my R-Pod around. I intend to install a reverse camera on the camper. Is there a way to easily switch between the Taco's reverse camera and the camper's? Better yet, is there a way for it to recognize when the camper's hooked up and switch automatically? I'd really like to use the camper's camera in conjunction with the console display and not have to use a separate display for it. Would I need to replace the head unit or does the stock unit come with two camera inputs, or is there another way around it? Am I in over my head? Should I have all this done professionally? Thanks for any help yall can offer!

    Ok, great! I'd actually seen this before but I hadn't thought about using it for this purpose. Would I just install the front camera on the R-Pod's rear instead?

    I think so... it's going to be the same as wiring on a front camera, but not locating the camera in the front of the truck, but on the rear of the trailer and add the anytime mod with the switch

    Snug top Rebel, Thule tracks, ditch tracks, Bagged rear suspension, F/R anytime camera, intermittent wiper switch...
    Need a 5-pin relay on the camera feed so the signal can toggle between normal input(pin 87) and trailer input(87a). A switch to toggle might be better to allow you to see the trailer hook up under way. To auto switch you would need an extra connection to bring the trailer power back to the relay. It would then auto toggle as soon as power was on and in reverse. The places to interrupt the signal without cutting wires are at the tail gait cam, at the plug on the frame below the rr lights, and at the head unit.

    Manual connection to the added trailer camera setup, like so:

    Upon connection of trailer cam system switches to trailer view, removal of harness returns to TailGate cam. If you decide to leave trailer cam and be able to select between cams then no jumper in trailer cam connector, but you'll need to run a wire into cab for a switch do to selection of tailgate cam or trailer cam.
    2 DPDT relays or 4 (5 pin) Relays.

    Wouldn't that Bueler unit eliminate the need for relays and auto switch the display to the trailer camera (Video 2) when it is connected and go back to tailgate camera (Video 1) when the trailer is disconnected? Also, couldn't the RCA connectors be removed and the ends connected to factory harness connector pigtails inside a waterproof box?

    The relays are for the camera power...video would be handled by the gizmo. You need to switch power source in order for the cameras to function. the gizmo switch video source. Also, the idea is not to cut the OEM camera wires n plugs...

    I ended up getting this system Here. Commercial grade by Audiovox.
    Also picked up two pigtail connectors for the OEM connections. I have the anytime camera mod so I can view what's behind the trailer on the head unit.

    I have all the proper cords and this relay. I can’t seem to align the wiring correctly to get it to work.

    The one I have says it can handle 12V.

    thank you for this. I will try tomorrow and report back. If I get this to work I will do a write up of the parts I sourced and used, and how I hooked it up in more detail for those to follow.
