I really want to get the door edge guards. Anyone have experience with the DIY option for this or something similar that they could comment on?

I have not had experience myself however there are a few youtube videos out there. Xpel has one where they wrap an entire racing Porsche. Seems like the door would be pretty easy. If you notice the soap/water/gel solutions they use to add the product allows you to move it to the spot you want it.

Theres a local place i could buy it, but my installer took care of it for me. He charge me $1000 for labor and materials but did pretty much every area of the truck. It was a good find as he used to work in a detailing shop and was just doing this in the side out of the clients garage. Place in calgary was called shadow shield. They sell rolls of it. For the bumper detail though, you will probably have to get a computer to cut out all the details. Canadian prices

Bought my 2016 new paid about 600 for dealer to install it. Took truck back to get it installed they took it down town to a tint shop. Left the receipt on the seat they paid about 350. Lesson learned go to tint shop.

Okay, I contacted them about this and they got back to me right away.

Apparently the mods banned their account as SPAM so they haven’t been getting any PMs. Just send them an email at marketing@XPEL.com and they should get back to you pretty quickly.

    XPEL FTW!

Got mine done locally. Wrapped the whole truck(full burial) minus 3/4 of the hood, roof, and rear bumper. I love it so much. No more worries about pinstriping the truck on tight trails, easy maintenance, and the truck always looks fairly clean in-between washes.

Your truck looks great. Did you do a mostly full truck clear bra wrap? If so, what brand did you use and how much did it run? Maybe PM me? I tried to PM you but I couldn't figure it out. Maybe I need more coffee.

    This.

I just got my full hood, front fenders, front bumper, headlights, a-pillar and front portion of my roof done in Suntek. I decided to remove the black hood decal from the Pro since I wasn’t too excited about it to begin with and figured it would look weird if I wrapped a matte black decal with gloss clear (p.s. I have zero glare without it there since that topic seems to come up from time to time). Went with a local shop in Dallas that does a lot of supercars/exotics (looked funny seeing my Tacoma in there with 911’s etc). I paid $2200 for the suntek wrap AND got all windows tinted with ceramic. Expensive? Yep. But, you pay your bills so only you have to worry about it. My wife still thinks I'm crazy, but with voodoo blue, this color shows every. single. chip. Hell, my truck had 44 miles on it when I bought it and it already had few paint nicks from test drives and transport :frusty:.

They quoted me $5K to wrap the entire truck, but I just couldn’t spend the coin to do it all (not without having my wife kick me out of the house at least!). I went with the high hit areas since I drive 55+ miles a day with this thing (mostly highway). I will eventually get the entire truck wrapped I think. I sleep well at night because of it…but I also have severe OCD and love keeping my vehicles looking new since I tend to keep them for 10+ years.

My wrap has no seems. This shop wrapped around all the edges so you cannot see the film at all. Only if you look for it around some of the more extreme curves, but this material is not a magic unicorn, so it still has to play within the confines of physics. The precut kits can be tricky. If the installer stretches it too much, they will not line up well and will look like crap. My Honda Pilot is a shining example of this. Drives my bananas to this day.

    So to sum it up.

    - If you have the cash…get it.

    - Do not have the dealer do it.

    - And make sure it’s expel or suntek. Those are the top two brands that are leading the industry in my opinion.

Few days after wrap someone tried to damage truck. Xepel did it’s job, no paint damage. The section of Xpel was replaced free of charge.
