Ok, so the paint dries very quick in the sun with a little breeze. When I did mine, I would spray one side then do the other, then after like 20 minutes I would spray again. The first 3 coats will not even look like you are applying anything if you're doing them light enough. But each subsequent coat I sprayed a little heavier. Ultimately the entire area was completely black. Then I waited 30 minutes after the last coat to start peeling. When I sprayed each time I made sure to spray down, up, left/right at extreme angles so the paint was getting behind the emblem edges. The toughest spot was in the middle of the A. It's nearly impossible to get it in there good without over spraying and causing it to run. You need to be quick in your movements so the can is not in one spot at any time. If you don't get it just keep doing thin coats as many times as it takes. The more you get on the emblem the better anyway. If you concentrate on getting it behind the emblem and in all the tight spaces first, by default you will be applying the perfect amount to the emblem.

So you see how I have the sides of the door exposed like 3" almost all the way around the emblem? This is actually better than trying to tape off right up on it. Some of the videos I watched they didn't tape off at all. Just sprayed up close, then after waiting for it to dry, they used their fingers to get it to start peeling off and the closer they got the more it was a full skin like piece. The super tight spots require a wooden toothpick to get it out of.

By spraying fully that far away from the emblem you are allowing the paint to become a thicker skin that actually makes peeling it easier. When you start to peel it off you pull out, perpendicular to the door, in a natural way but as you get closer to the emblem you should slow down, move your hand closer and make sure your pulling from the edges at like a 45° angle or more, very slowly. You may even need to use a toothpick to sorta score it.

    Does this help?

I'm a tentative IN. Had a great time out there last year. What say yall?

Seems like we should be there earlier this year since we don't have a morning event that day like last year.

    Good morning TTC.

Need the groups experienced help. Getting some ideas for first big mods, and need advice on previous experiences with dealers around Austin, Dallas, San Antonio. I am looking to add a bed rack to my short bed double cab and cannot seem to find anyone in Austin region, who carries bed racks, let alone anything for a short bed. If you know of a dealer who does and have a good experience, and maybe also offers financing let me know.

Second mod is going to be a bed slider drawer. Has anyone seen a good model for the short bed 3rd gen? I am looking at Bedslide but at $2000, is there a better, cooler, or cheaper option out there i do not know about?

Are you doing 5 very light coats? Or fairly heavy ones? I found doing just a "dusting" coat each time gave a better coverage and builds up layers better. Each coat dries in a few minutes. I can do 5-6 applications in 30 minutes, then peel off excess and it's perfect.

Mine started a bit rough. Shoelace broke trying to tie my shoe, then a little SUV and I traded a little paint when I was trying to take my wife to work this morning so we were both late. It's getting better, though.

Not 100% on the racks but I know @lilred95 does some nice work for drawer systems. Hopefully you can get with him at the next c&c and see his work.
