This is exactly why I went to Advance Auto and bought a quality battery to replace the junk OEM one. PS: 11 volts is not acceptable!

I build jeeps and trucks etc. I know the voltages and the ranges lol. Toyota refuses to credit me if I buy a different battery than warranty their 560CCA POS Prius battery. FWIW my GF civic has a higher CCA battery from the factory.

Sounds like something else is going on. They need to do some extensive testing on the whole system. Your situation is NOT "normal". Especially for a new, un-modified vehicle. (It is UN-MODIFIED, right??)

I have LED headlamps and LED grill, neither that leech power. I cant find any draws with a multimeter. Even went back to stock setup and died the 2nd time. Toyota refuses to do anything besides change the battery, which again takes all day. Literally unless there is a dash light, or its completely dead, Toyota wont even touch it. I have 5300 miles on it also

They could just be recharging the battery at the dealer and telling you they’re putting in a new one. They may think you’re somehow draining it at home and bringing it in for replacement.

A good story on a battery from Toyota . I live 55 miles from the nearest Toyota dealership. My battery was all corroded and leaking as I stated to the dealer on a free 24 month checkup . The tech just wiped the corrision off around the pos . terminal . Anyway the battery crapped out at 35 months . Being in the boonies , I ordered a Northstar 27F ( thanks to recs here on TW ).
I submitted a claim to toyota as per a TW member @shakerhood and others . I at best expected to get a refund for the cost of a Toyota battery , but they sent me a check to cover the cost for the Northstar. Kudoos to Toyota for going above and beyond for me .

Could you please explain how a life time battery is possible?

If the truck only lasts 2 years, it's probably a lifetime battery.

Toyota knows the OEM battery is a piece of shit. That's why they honor replacement batteries installed after failures. I got refunded for a better battery after being stranded in a Walmart parking lot.

I think the point is, if there was an incentive ($$) to making a battery that would last 10 years or more the battery people would engineer it. But their model is that the public has been brain washed into accepting the idea that car batteries will fail after 36-48 months. So they fail and they sell another.

They already have engineered and sell such a battery. NorthStar NSB batteries are designed for a 12 year service life. Problem is people want to buy cheap crap. Why pay $350 for a high quality product when you can get a cheap battery for $100? Few are willing to pay the premium for the quality, hence few are willing to build them. It isn’t the manufactures driving this, it is the cheap consumers.

My battery died on my 18 Tacoma (purchase date of August 2018) April 2019. After trickle charging it I ran it for a week then it died again after a few days in garage. After researching a new battery on this forum and way overthinking the damn thing another member posted that it could be covered under warranty.

3 days later, I took it for 5k service and the dealer tested the battery, confirmed dead cells, and replaced the battery under warranty. Warranty replacement was free, otherwise I was opting for the northstar/AGM battery for a zillion dollars.

    Good luck.

There is a 200 watt incandescent light bulb that Thomas Edison invented that is on 24 hours a day 7 days a week in a fixture outside the General Electric plant in Cleveland, Ohio. That lamp has been in that fixture over 100 years and still working. I would have to believe the technology exists to build lifetime batteries. Look at the battery cells on the long term flights to other planets that are still sending signals back after numerous years.

If they made batteries from pig noses, they'd last a LONG time. Pigs are constantly rooting around in mud. But have you ever seen a pig with a worn out nose?

It'd be counterproductive for manufacturers to make REALLY long life batteries. They need us to buy new ones every few years to stay in business.
