My wife took my truck in for the 20,000 mile service and tells me there is a recall on my truck but they can't fix it because of my suspension and grill. The recall is on my millimeter wave radar sensor. They wouldn't touch it because I have king's on my truck and it sits higher than stock and I have the TRD Pro grill with the garnish. Anyone else ever run into this problem?

There isn't an issue. The system is working but there is a factory recall.

Some have. This has been discussed in other threads. Toyota Corporate is reserving the right to not perform the sensor recall due to owner modifications that could affect the performance of the sensor itself.

I’m not sure where I seen it on here but there was a post recently about dealers being able to refuse to do work on modified trucks involving the TSS due to liability.

The system seems to be working, so I'm not sure if I should worry about it or not. Just don't want any future issues

If Toyota doesn't wanna play ball, just find out what they slapped a waterproof patch on, and duct tape it yourself.

I feel like us 2017 guys get to gloat on and on now about our “perfect Tacos” like those dweebs from the 2nd Gen forum.

I find myself thinking thoughts like.......”damn, 2017 was the last great Tacoma!! Before all them nanny features ruined it”

I just had this recall done to my truck last Saturday on my 19 TRD OR. It was a software update and piece of weather grade 3M foam glued to the top of the radar...I ask if I had modded my truck's grill like I wanted to(switched to the pro grill) they said they wouldn't have perform the remedy for it. He also told me that they won't order the grill for me either down the road.

Mine was denied because of the Pro Grille (OEM) purchased from the dealership that wouldn’t perform the recall.

Had my 5K service done at my local dealer here in Lynnwood, WA. They did the recall with no issues. I have a lift and the TRD Pro Grille.
