    BTW.

Were you leaning towards this radio because its a DIN footprint? If you have an older truck with Double DIN radio, you could install it with a standard DIN stereo. I have seen a few installd of DIN radios that almost look like they were intended to be there. My only advice if you go that route, would be an external speaker.
There are smaller footprint\no foot print options. So many options... :)
Also, you can mount your radio overhead. Two of mine are, and one in\under dash with the onboard intercom\Comms head.

BTW, don't take my previous comment as a negative to your selection. this radio is certainly a very good unit. The comment revolved around SSB. Single Side Band is really not a band you would expect to leverage when wheeling in a large group as it is very "uncommon" for most persons to have SSB. (I don't even own a SSB capable radio, and I have over a dozen.)

A comment on CB vs MURS VS UHF.
27MHZ propagates most of its power "up" and not along the ground; so 4 watts may not be able to make a short (5 mile) line of sight link, but it will skip back many miles away.
Its not difficult to go from 4 watts, to 20. That jump in power DOES make CB usable in the typical offroad park (1000 Acres)
Lower frequencies penetrate trees quite nicely VS UHF and higher; so all bands have their detractors and advantages.

    Good discussion:

See you all in a week or so!

I thought about buying yours but I already have another full set of wheels and tires with less than 1000 miles on them sitting in the garage. It was supposed to be my daily setup but I never got around to putting them back on. And the last time I started buying stuff I ended up with 4 full sets and the boyfriend got mad.

I do appreciate the help! I have decided, I’m going with the MTX275. For anyone interested there’s a 20% off promo that’s active right now on Midland’s site... OVERLANDUSA

Not terribly concerned, the weather pattern we're currently in is rain mid week and nice weekends. I'm optimistic that holds.
