my question is a Tacoma is supposed to be a small pickup truck if you compare the first gen and and the 3rd gen almost looks like a full size pickup truck I mean is the 4th gen Tacoma going to be the size of a Ford f350

I've been offered some very good $$$ for my Tacoma above $15k and with only averaging 3k miles per year on it . With inflation figured in and 20 yrs from now a 37 yr old 1rst gen double cab with 132k miles will be worth alot

Im gonna refute each one of those claims in numerical order, just so we don't get confused here.

    1. Wont know that for sure until a few more years passes by.
    2. Er, um have you seen the 3rd gen section lately? All yall's stuff be going back to the dealer for every. little. thing.
    3. Again, wont know that for sure until time passes. Toyota thought they fixed the rust issues after 2010, however there has been more than a few instances of later 2nd gens rusting out. It is totally possible for that manufacturing defect to transfer over to the 3rd gens.
    4. Totally opinionated. If the 3rd gens look so good, why do most owners on here make a grille swap one of their first mods, or wheels, or de-badging etc?
    5. Totally false. 3rd gens get shit mileage and you know it.
    6. Skipping this one cause IDGAF about pollution.
    7. When it comes to the V6's, sure they're marginally more powerful than the 1GR's, but limited by that trans all ya'll bitch about.
    8. Totally opinionated. My 1st gen, and hell even my 92 Pickup (Actual 3rd gen best gen lol) is plenty comfortable to me.
    9. Total BS. This is an auto forum catered to off road enthusiasts, so saying one gen is more capable then the rest at going off road makes you sound like a douche. 3rd gens may have 1st gens beat on towing but that's about it capability wise.

Well I disagree with everything you wrote, so we are even. Sounds like your are lost in a dream. Buncha hogwash (no offence).

My truck is not going back to the dealer. You are also reading posts on an enthusiast forum from a small segment of the 100’s of thousands of 3rd Gen tacos already on the road. It is the most popular truck Toyota has ever produced, and I believe by next year, total numbers on the road will be more than all 1st gens produced ever, so you are going to get a few complaints.

I will challenge you, any day, to an off-road capability test, and will win, easily. The Winds of Crom blow at my back.

I’ve owned all three gens and each iteration gets worse.
What was Toyota thinking when they made the Taco more powerful, economical, spacious, safer, quieter and more comfortable? Stupid composite bed that never rusts and less visits to the gas station really piss me off. Bernice, the Quickie Mart cashier, only gets to ring me up for a half warmed hot dog like once every other week now. Don’t even get me started on 10k mile oil change intervals or spark plugs that last 60k.
Toyota, if you’re listening, please for the love of Tom Cruise, sell us a pickup that is objectively worse in every imaginable category so we can dump the garbage that has been the second and turd gen Tacomas.

The early 90s Corollas and Camrys are the only vehicles truly worthy of Toyota’s reputation. Those are vehicles to be nostalgic about. After the apocalypse, there will be no Land Cruisers, no Lexuses, no Hiluxes, certainly no Tacoma of any Gen. The only evidence mankind existed will be all the 90s Corolla and Camrys strewn about the barren wastes, still in good running condition.

Nope. Unless Toyota does the following:
-Build more plants. Both the SA and Baja plant are maxed out. They sell every Taco they make
-HEAVILY discount the final sales price of new trucks. It kills resale value but that leads to more sales.
-Focus less on reliability and more on what the spec sheet says.

When someone buys a Ford, they get a “great deal” on it (ridiculously discounted price). After driving it for a few years, stuff starts to break. They take it to the dealer, find out it will cost just as much to fix it then what their severely devalued truck is worth and so the dealer “hooks them up” with another great deal on a new truck and the cycle repeats itself.

I hear you get a free ball cap and mirrored Oakleys with your F150 at select dealers. That might help as well, if Toyota did something like that.

Was it parked in the driveway of a 1200 sq ft house valued at $850,000?

Fuck I hate what this place has become.
