Is this a good setup?

So i wanna get the Toytec Ultimate Lift Kit and put some 285/70/17
ive heard you would rub but you could trim, then i heard even if did trim it wouldnt be that good to off road with this set up. So what should i do?
Just get smaller tires, or would i be fine?

You might rub less with different than stock wheels, maybe like 4.5" BS wheels. You will have to run it at the 3" then you might need to go with some aftermarket UCA which is another 500 bones on top of the lift and tires and maybe wheels and cab mount chop. But it all depends on how much and what kind of wheeling you do. If you are going crazy and just some light trails and such you should be fine wheeling with this setup but the downtravel is clsoe to nothing so the drive is going to be more harsh than stock but ebveryones does it and everyone loves it lol

 

just go with 265's. cheaper, keep more horsepower, better mpg, problem solved

 

even with aftermarket wheels, i would still need to do a cab mount chop?

 

No not for 285s, unless you ramp it off cliffs. Just some minor plastic trimming

UCAs- Total Chaos
Tires- BFG A/T 285/70/17
Wheels- 17x9 4.5 backspacing

Sound good?

 

you'll still rub the frame at full lock, but lots of people run that setup and like it.

You should be fine. I dont run that setup but many people do. You may have to trim a little but not much. You should worry more about vibrations than rubbing.

 

Is there a way to stop them, what are they caused from?

 

I rub my body mounts with 285s at full lock and a bump
