so my bf made a custom intake for his truck to save money so i asked him to make one for mine...unfortunately my truck wouldn't run with the intake so we just decided to put the stock back in. as soon as i got on the road coming back to sacramento the check engine light went on and i noticed my truck was driving weird. it was shaking and having a hard time accelerating. i drove like this for awhile but decided to pull over and see if we didn't plug something back into the intake. It was dark and i couldn't take the cover off so i obviously couldn't see much so i decided to get back on the road. as soon as i got back on the freeway the check engine light went off and yay my truck was back to normal! but then...

when i was about to take my exit the maintenance required light turned on and again my truck started driving weird. Today before class i popped the hood, took a quick look and didn't see anything too noticeable but when i pressed on the gas it made a whiny noise, like it was struggling a lot.

any suggestions on what could be wrong or anything i can check?

you can possibly take it to the dealer and say something is wrong and see if they will check it

Post pictures, check the Mass Air Flow sensor wiring, and possibly clean the MAF assembly. It's extremely sensitive to oil and stuff and can get gummed up easily.

Sounds like MAF. If there isn't a tight seal around the filter and the piping it could be getting too much air in for the MAF to properly read.
