This happened to me with my Jeep. The chrome started coming off around the cup holders. Only solution I found was to trade in.

The invisible factory installed parachute that deploys as soon as you get up to highway speeds.
My truck is in S4 / ECT On 99% of the time im driving it.
The transmission is geared for a diesel engine, not a gas engine.

The peeling chrome is just a warranty issue that will be brought up when i go in for the 10k oil change.

The cut is an annoyance... but as a fulltime forklift tech, not an unusual circumstance.

It's not chrome. It's shiny plastic.

I can assure you, it most definitely IS a chrome plating of some kind and its sharp as a raczor blade.

No, I traded it for a lot of reasons. Lousy leaf springs, rattly rear doors, a sudden head gasket leak at 70k, and a great deal on an F150 after the local Toyota dealer basically told me to pound sand about trying to negotiate on a trade.
I traded that for a 2500 because I started doing some plowing/property maintenance work on the side and I needed something with higher capacity.

If I had a career as an accountant... that might be the case... but 36 years turning wrenches took care of that a long time ago. lol

Prior to this Taco... I always had 2500's or Duallys.

I may get back into a 2500 at some point but not because of peeling chrome. lol
The mismatched transmission gearing and pisspoor low end torque is what pushes me away from this thing... and its unfortunate because I really do like the truck otherwise.

Did you provoke it? Tacoma attacks are very rare in the wild? :)
