Craig sorry to hear your results, I don't blame your for being pissed beyond reason. I'm pissed at him and I only lost $20 out of the deal. As I said before you have been more then patient (more patient then me and others). Truthfully I didn't think the shit bag would call you or send you the lights as he's been blowing smoke up allot of peoples asses. For all the aggravation he has caused you he deserves everything he gets and then some. Hope you can get some satisfaction out of this, keep me informed.

LOL... I never would of thought the "collections" biz would pay so well...lol..

I need to calm down a little before I end up in hand-cuffs. I am not giving up by any means, but if I made the drive today it wouldnt be pretty...

I will keep you guys informed, and yes Gen, if I have any opportunity in conversation or other means, I will bring you up for sure. I doubt I'm going to collect my $ or yours, but I will try.

I bet we could sell enough shit off his truck to get the money back that he owes everyone. Shit if you can get my $20 back you can keep it to put towards all the aggravation you put up with.

Sorry to hear how your situation turned out, you certainly are one patient man. But as the saying goes,

Revenge is a dessert best served cold, someday, wham, this dude is toast.

I do have a ? on paypal though. When you file a claim with paypal, you can only get money back if its in their paypal account? I thought paypal was connected to a bank account or credit card?

The bank or credit card account that his Paypal account is linked to didnt have sufficient funds to refund all my $ ($193), so Paypal could only refund what he had in the linked account ($26).

Paypal can take the balance owed from his account later when the moneys there, or atleast I assume this is the case.

No matter what, it should be impossible for him to use Paypal (or open another Paypal account in the future) until he pays the balance...or atleast thats my understanding.

There are a few of us who got burned by this guy, and I can only hope the mods are keeping track...

No, I havent heard anything yet..but I have too busy to keep on him.

I will be be a little more focused (on a refund in lieu of lights) this coming week.

They turned out a little darker then I wanted (except for the 3rd brake-light)...but they are flawless!!! I cut-sanded every coat of paint & clear (5 coats) that I sprayed , so it took most of the weekend, but their pratically bulletproof...lol.

I hand buffed them with rubbing compound 5 times each, and then with swirl remover 3 times each...

Very nice job Craig, like you they are a little dark for me but beautiful work. Question I have is how many coats of VHT did you spray as I will want to spray a little less then that to lighten it up a little.

Thanks guys. I'm glad I finally did them myself, and now only wish I would have done it sooner instead of getting ripped off my eltaco=elbroko-bandito...

Scottie, I'd love to tell you how many coats, but I cant. I sprayed a coat, then lightly color sanded, then sprayed again, then thought they were too dark, then sanded more, etc...

Now that I've worked with the nite-shades, I would guess 3 light/medium coats would be about the shade we were both looking for. Keep in mind, that the actual completed product will be darker then how it looks after paint.

Also, I think it makes a big difference how much clear you use, so if I decide to re-do mine (or buy a replacement set and sell these) I would use 3 coats nite shades (not heavy), lightly color sand to blend any spray-lines, then proceed with prep and clear. I used Rustoleum (Painters Touch) "Crystal Clear", as it doesnt yellow and is UV protection (I researched which clear, and this was the most recommended with the nite shades).

Spray 2 medium coats of clear (20 minutes apart). Wait an hour or 2, then wet sand with 1500, clean, Then repeat (2 -coats & sanding).

As you sand or "cut" the clear, every few minutes wipe the lens down with clean water, and wipe with mocrofiber cloth (Home Depot). It will dry almost instantly, and you will see the little dots (orange peel). Sand until the shiny dots are gone.

Then rinse, and sand with 2000 grit.

Then I used rubbing compound followed by swirl remover.

Dont spray the lights side by side as others will tell you. I prep them both, spray one, carefully move it, then spray the other. This avoids dusty overspray and imperfections that will take additional sanding.

Let me know if you have any questions. I will say although I've sprayed my fair share of automotive and spray paint, the nite-shades was a bitch. The first can I started with kept spitting, fortunately I had another can. Make sure you have paint thinner, rags, windex, and 3 or 4 microfiber cloths.

After each sanding, I wipe 1st with clean soapy water & rag, then dry with microfiber. Then with windex & a different microfiber, then with 3M prep solvent and yet another microfiber.

MOST IMPORTANTLY.... be carefull if you color sand, especially around the middle "round part" of the light, and on the edge of the middle round part closest to the tail-gate when installed. Any edges or curves! I sanded to much, had to recoat with niteshades, then sanded more to blend, etc... save yourself some work, and if you color sand, do it lightly & carefully with 1500 grit, and watch the curves!!!

    Good luck.

I really wanted to give this guy the benefit of the doubt, but enough's enough. I say give him a week or you will personally come collect your $$.
