Who's "they"? I ask because TMNA is NOT your local dealer. If your local dealer lifted or paid another shop to lift the truck, you the buyer are at that dealers mercy for warranty work.

The problem i have here is that part of this recall has to do with the sensor potentially malfunctioning and applying your brakes incorrectly. This could cause you an accident due to a part you haven't modified but rather a software glitch. I don't get what the lift has to do with a software glitch.

Sounds like you didn’t receive the benefit of your bargain as the warranty is a performance contract between the owner of the vehicle and Toyota. The dealer is not a party to that contract and has no authority to deny a claim under that contract. My question is what evidence or facts are they relying on to deny the claim? Some internal piece of paper that was never disclosed to you by Toyota?

If they work on it after you modify the truck they can be held liable if something happens down the road.

Doing any service on the sensor and giving it back to the customer implies it is working to factory standards, which they can't do of the vehicle has been modified.

It happens every day. It happens with our equipment too. If it's modded, its your responsibility.

So basically, if I am understanding correctly, you are saying they are out of spec because, and you have no idea of what the normal range of operating parameters for the sensor are. Is that correct?

@hiPSI give it up. These dudes refuse to understand the situation. When you modify a part of the vehicle the manufacturer ceases to be responsible for that part. Period. SOP and has been that way for decades.

If people were modifying the radar itself, sure I get that.

You modified the way the truck sits by changing out suspension or fitting larger tires. The TSS sensors and computers were tested, calibrated, programmed and certified to work based on the stock configuration of the vehicle. The owner’s manual even tells you that changing the tire size can cause the TSS system to not function properly.

This thread hurts my brain. Between the not-engineers and the not-lawyers, we have every discipline not covered.

The system may or may not work on a lifted truck. Why is it Toyotas responsibility to pay their engineers to determine if the system will work on a truck that has been modified?

The funny and pathetic part is how many people are up in arms about not wanting this safety crap on a truck, but oh recall on said safety crap better make that appointment so I can eat some stale danish and coffee while the dealer sticks a piece of bubble gum over the top of it

This was pretty much my thinking. Even your tire psi changes the ride height.
I was also thinking, my truck sits 2.5" higher, but the Pro grill moves the sensor down roughly the same amount. J would be curious to see how much the sensor has actually moved from stock. Anyone have the stock measuo?
