I’m kind of keeping my eyes peeled for an older 850 Turbo Wagon. Just trying to get an idea of things to look for when I’m hunting for one(problem areas, etc)

I've ran a Volvo L180 front end loader a bit and also a Volvo ex300 excavator.

I'm guessing your talking about cars.

I had an 850R wagon back in the day. They're pretty much bullet proof. Look for all the normal used car stuff like oil leaks, brake wear, AC blowing cold, etc.

It's probably high mileage by now, so listen carefully to the turbo, it shouldn't sound like a dentist drill. Also check for whether or not the car blows black smoke on acceleration. That's either bad seals in the turbo, or a clogged up PCV system that will need replacement. The oil return line for the turbo is a common place for leaks also, it's pretty easy to fix though. Also, the timing belts need to be done every 80k miles or so on those.

What he said, also, if there’s a rhythmic chatter when you accelerate it’s a bad bearing in the turbo. Vacuum leaks are really common and we’re a lot of problems can be fixed so don’t be afraid if it doesn’t have the smoothest idle but runs really good just plan on chasing and replacing vacuum lines

I'd wager about the same, just less homeless people and way cooler hair styles.
