3x Unlock Tailgate Opener

I think if he could team up with someone who makes a minimalist custom key fob this would be a no brainer for getting both mods!

 

He is already teaming up with said person on the Always on ECT MOD. Just another one to work on!

Trying to figure out the easiest wiring route. I thought that I had it figured out how to piggyback on the existing wires going back to the popnlock. But I just debunked my theory.

I think worst case a single wire run will be necessary from the cab to the tailgate, but the TR7 and Relay will remain in the cab connected to KTJO's harness. Still brainstorming though.

 

So just spitballing here, but I know the passenger side proximity handle mod can be done easily.

I wonder if its possible to rip the internals out of it and repurpose it for the tailgate? Maybe copying chevy (I think) who has the wave your foot to open the tailgate.

Probably getting ahead of myself with that thought lol. But a man can dream.

 

Could possibly work, just need to sacrifice a $150 handle.

 

Maybe not sacrifice if it comes apart easily. Been wanting to do passenger side mod anyways, may buy it for that and just see what the insides look like

 

Lexus now has the wave your foot thing to open the rear hatch on the NX and RX SUV's. It will be a genuine Toyota part, but at Lexus prices.......That would be interesting to see work on our trucks..LOL Hell, Lexus should just come out with a Truck line....I dont think so..

Yup will be making my harness (TR7/Relay) integrate with @KTJO 4x4 's harness for PNP.

 

wow, sweet, I dont consider myself lazy at all, and this reeks of laziness, but this would be a cool mod! I prob wouldnt use it much, as the thing I like about these trucks is that I hardly ever have to take the keyfob out of my pocket, but I'd prob do this mod anyway for the cool factor. I've already done the 10$ tailgate lock mod, but I did the 40$ tailgate lock mod with a better actuator. (15 for act., 15 for wire, 5 for wire sleeving, 5 for connector pack). Subscribing...

 

So 3 more wires to the tailgate then?

 

Geez....that looks like you barely even have enough room to be in the driveway !

 

Yup, so long bed was out of the question. Before I bought it, i had to take a tape ruler and measure the driveway and garage. I won’t fit in my garage with my toolbox and barely fits on my driveway.

 

Hopefully it's not a busy street at least
