I don't expect everyone to answer this question.

I've been working on an excel sheet showing all of my finances. My income, bills, luxeries, etc. Turns out I should have waited to remodel my house once I get rid of some of my bills :( I thought about taking a second job in the afternoon to tackle some of the credit cards and the damn Lowes card for the remodel.

Just wondering what people have after everything is paid.. including approximate gas, electricty, food, etc. All bills.

It's kinda of an unfair question for some simply because of the cost of living. Gas alone here for 87 is still $3 while in other parts of the country its around $2.30. Water is a scarce thing around SoCal so they in turn charge more for it. I'll let others chime in, but I can totally relate as I too have looked and applied for a pt job in addition to my swing shift at work. Hasn't happened yet. I wanna say though that your mortgage is probably lower than my rent ($1895).

Cost of living is typically reflected in compensation/salary for employees in that area.

I make under the national average for my job, but I make average for my location.

At least our trucks cost about the same :)

Yes that's true now. It was very recent that my employer gave us in San Diego the geographical differentiation of 20%. I had the privilege of taking a trip to Pittsburgh, PA to our corporate office where I had the opportunity to ask about that same issue. Not sure if it was a coincidence, but about 4 months later... there it was. For the record though, every manager across the country gets paid the same base pay (give or take your performance as a manager and the performance of your station).

i figure my budget a little different than most people...i dont need to figure gas out because i'll usually only put about a tank or 2 in my truck a month...so that cost is negligible...

i worked out a spreadsheet detailing all of my "fixed" bills such as rent/utilities/cc bills etc...and when each one is due...

i have my paychecks direct deposited into a checking account...which i have set up to move a specific amount (more than necessary) into a 2nd checking account that ONLY bills are paid out of...i dont have a debit card for that account and i keep it that way so i dont spend that money on frivolous purchases

at the same time my bill money is transferred, a set amount is also transferred into a savings account...which is depleted once a year to add to a CD when i roll it over

that leaves me with a set amount of cash in my checking account with which i eat and play with...its more than i need for eating and gas...and fun...and anything left over gets moved to the savings account so i can eventually purchase larger ticket toys (such as guns or truck parts)

to add a little more to it...

i bring home roughly $1800 a month from my full time job, and 600 from my part time job...

i put away roughly 1000 of that into my bills account...and roughly 200 into my savings account...

that leaves me with roughly $1200 to eat, get gas, and play...

Once I get a house I would have to adjust where all my money is going but if I don't adjust it I will be -$700 a month. I will have to adjust my 401k and withholdings so that I might take home $100 a month after everything (food, utilities, miscellaneous items, entertainment, etc). I did the excel sheet too and it sucks when you see your purchasing power is actually not that great. speaking for myself of course :)
