So let me get this straight....
A guy lifts his truck, puts on big tires and hangs bumpers and skids. He is in an accident, hits someone in the ass. Hurts the person he hits.
That person sues the guy, the insurance company. The guy sues Toyota because his truck's TSS did not go off at all.
The insurance company is on the hook.
The guy is on the hook.
How is Toyota on the hook? The guy modded his truck and took TSS outside of working parameters.

Now, I suppose you could get a lawyer and a real goo
It could be exactly the same and it wouldn't matter. This is not a conversation between you at 12 and your dad. There is no compromise. Toyota built it. Toyota tested it. Toyota won't be responsible for it if it is not in their stock configuration. Period.

I get that, I'm just curious how close it is to it's original location.

    There is NO irony.

If they would refund my $2,000 and take back their unwanted "safety" radar/camera crap, I'd be in heaven. If I was going to be 2kUSD worth of extravagant, I'd prefer thermal imaging.

As far as warranty goes, I'm playing their dumb corporate game by their rules, till it runs out, that's all.

I took my lifted rig in for the master brake cylinder recall and mentioned the TSS isn't working (I just installed the new grill with lift and BTW give it a few hundred clicks...it works itself out unless you screwed up the install of garnish...I did:) and the tech said no dice. Take it back to stock I was told. TSS wasn't engineered for lifts of all sorts.. So be it. A week later warning is gone and hasn't come back with everything working per manual.

Haha it's true though. I see myself driving mine for many many years because I may never be able to buy something comparable again. Will really be the case if they ever drop the MTs.

How do you screw up the install of the garnish?

Bought the garnish of eBay and they (Hong Kong seller) sent me two for some reason...Thought I could sell the second one off. needed it though when I realized the push nut bolts were not fitting right and the bottom section with the insert lock needed about a1/4 material removed to click in. All to say a Dremel and patience worked fine. The key to not f-ing up a non Toyota garnish is the push nuts need to fit tight and locking inserts opposite need to click in. A perfectly straight up and down garnished works IMO. Perviously I could see on mine a slight angle of the garnish and it would only work temporality on occasions.

I just came back from the dealership , but they couldn't get it calibrated with my 270/17/17 wildpeaks "supposedly". They were blaming it on that, but whatever. I guess ill go find another dealership. I also have the trd pro grill and trd fox suspension.

The "unwanted safety crap" was on the vehicle prior to your purchase. No one forced you to purchase the vehicle. As for the warranty, you choose not to read the fine print at time of purchase.

The TSS should never give false positives for those who have mods since the owners manual recommends turning it off.

You're either one of the "dudes" or just trolling. Just admit it and move on.

Regardless, I wouldn't want water intrusion in the sensor. If I wen't back to stock, it'd be nice to not have a waterlogged sensor.

Once you go back to stock, go have the recall performed.

This. I think the issue is mainly the yaw angle of the sensor, it needs to be in alignment with the longitudinal axis of the truck to know whether the truck is going to hit something in the adjacent lane (or a row of parked cars). There are only inches of clearance sometimes.

A lot of these grilles are made from Chinesium, you cannot guarantee the geometry.

This is a safety-related system, I do not blame the manufacturer for having this policy.

Me, I suffered a hit on the front corner and had my sensor alignment confirmed by the dealer after the repairs, on the oversize wheels that lift the truck about 25 mm. We will have words if they refuse to perform the recall, but I am quite dangerous with a tube of clear silicone so I can do it myself if required.

You can always offer to pay the dealer to confirm correct TSS-P function after they do the recall. If you can get them to agree, it would be in your interest because they cannot claim later that your mods caused the system to not work right.

They wouldn’t do mine bec I have a Pro grille but everything else is stock. All they did was seal it. Told me I would keep getting recall notices bec they can’t close it until it’s done. Can you post or pm the paperwork confirming the work order they did? I’d print it out and show my service dealer that they are full of crap saying they can’t.

^^THIS^^ Why would Toyota have to warranty a suspension that is not their own? And with the TSS, it is a calibrated aimed system. You lift the truck or change it's location due to different grill then why should Toyota be on the hook to fix or work on it. Now, as this person said, IF they try to deny something NOT impacted due to the mods, then that is a different story.
