I did some measuring and the bilstiens designed for 1-2" of rear lift really are only 1/2" or so longer extended, so they wouldn't make a difference and so far even with the old leafs after 3k miles I haven't had an issues related to the shocks on or off road. I just like the ride and the shock were original when I bought it and 246k on factory shocks doesn't end well.

Interesting, because the code states in my specific City in my County is to use Cast Iron up to roughly 2012. After 2012, ABS became standard.

    Do you have fire sprinklers?

    No fire sprinklers.
Cast was phased out in the late 90s here. This house was built in 04

It was the same price for me and I have had 5100s on a past 4runner and my current jeep, I have just been a fan for a while and I did the front and rears in 5100s to match.

Yeah I found it strange Cast Iron was standard until so recently, our old house a city over required fire sprinklers in every residential building so we had them. Not this city though where our current house is.

If you want to be super extra, Copper irrigation system. I'm good friends with a plumber and he tells me all his stories.

Dude this car has only had these struts, 1 alternator, 1 water pump, and a set of power steering lines replaced...
Original wheel bearings, engine, trans, ball joints, tie rods, etc. literally the least maintenance intensive car ever

We have a lawn sprinkler system. But not copper... that’s just a waste. Plastic line lasts longer out In dirt

Seems like an add a leaf would take up some extra room on the 5100’s and help support the topper.

You should've seen the substandard pipe they used for our irrigation system. It broke one day so I replaced one section, comparing the new PVC to the original was crazy. Original was almost 1/4inch thinner than the new pipe.

I have thought about doing the New leafs with a AAL or even getting the OME dakar pack and stripping a couple leafs out for 1" of lift and maybe plus 200lbs or so or I can so a slight lift shackle.

Go with spring lift over shackle lift if you can better for the system. But if you want to go that route I have some 3 position lift shackles if you’re interested.

Speak for yourself, your dirt is 100% better than mine. Mine is 90% clay, the contractor who dug the Koi pond used a jackhammer.

My neighborhood is build on an old Salt Flat.

I definitely would prefer to do a spring lift and likely a new set a leafs would outlast the truck overall, and they are an easy swap.

Once the Dakars settle you won’t have that much lift. I’m just over a year on mine with the aal and they’re sitting nicely. I’ve got a topper and a Relentless bumper.

I am doing a custom 1/4 bumper as I call it so that will add a bit of weight back plus the topper and gear, dakars might be a good idea. but the last single cab I drove with them had a AluCab topper and it rode real rough so technically I could pull one or twos leafs till I get the ride that I want and a touch of lift and I can match the front bt bumping the 5100s up a notch or 2.
