    Hi,

Just bought a 2009 Tacoma with <8500 miles. It appears to be in excellent condition. The dealer got it from auction, which makes me a little apprehensive but the carfax came back clean. The carfax did say that three service records were available. What does that mean?

    Thanks for your help. Rick

Why are you apprehensive about it being bought from an auction? Thats where 90% of the cars on dealer lots come from.

A good friend of mine is a car dealer and thats where he buys most of his cars, sometime he will buy them private party but its much easier to buy from auction.

If the truck is in good shape and seems to be practically brand new and you feel you got a good deal then I wouldn't worry about it.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.

He is apprehensive because it has 3 service records with less than 8500 miles on the ODO.

OP- one is probably the first oil change and the other 2 might be TSB's.

x2...most used cars are bought/traded at auction. The service records on the carfax could be anything from simple regular maintenance to warranty services for something wrong with it. You have to purchase the real car fax to see them, not the summary you get for free.

Although it has low miles and looks like a great deal, use your common sense and still give the truck a good once-over...or even take it to a shop to find anything wrong with it. In other words, why did someone get rid of it so early?! You need to still be skeptical...it could be a lemon.

Good call...just make sure someone didn't get rid of a lemon or else you'll inheret the problem.

Relax Toyotas are known to be 200,000 + mile engines so just change the oil often and use good oil the rest is up to your right foot stay away from redline:D

The service records could be anything. Theres one from when they detailed mine when I bought it new. And theres another from when they put my tool box on at the dealer. If you register on Mytoyota it should give you the specifics.
