Getting some breakfuss cooked up for the tribe this morning....stumbled into something that turned into a hyooge hit.....Vidalia goodness for the eggs.upload_2019-3-29_10-3-37.gif

The kitchen was smelling purty dang good after the coffee was brewed and the stuff started sizzlin'. Interested parties were close underfoot.

The omelets were simply loaded with cheddar and then hit with the onions. The flavor was great. I'd shaken some Tajín seasoning on top of the onions already.

    Should hold 'till this evening.

    Thanks.

I didn't have to wake everyone up to come and get it.....they'd already been lured downstairs by the aroma of bacon, sausage and those delicious Vidalia onions.

I enjoy cooking lots of meals for the family, but breakfast is the one I actually enjoy eating the most. Some good coffee and food gets me fueled up ad ready to roll.

Breakfast is my favorite to cook and eat, sometimes for supper also.

Love me some sweet onions. Unfortunately they no longer love me back. My cast iron stomach rusted out. :(

Man how do you get biscuit dough ready so fast in the morning?

So I have a question for everyone here, I got an old 60s Le Cresuet from a friend, great! I think. Well, enamel has been scratched out of the bottom, bare cast iron down there excepting the remaining ring of enamel on the sides and around the edges of the bottom. Is there something I can do to have the Dutch Oven re-enameled?

    Will do when I do!

The hard part is figuring out what to look out for. I was almost even considering an auto paint shop to see if they did enamel work

I was wondering about that. I'm not sure if they'd even honor it. It came from a friend and they bought it back in the 1960s.

I just finished restoring a wagner 12 inch griddle pan. I tried coconut oil for the first seasoning layer.

Never use coconut oil.... I can tell by the first layer that it's not ideal. Finished it up with 2 additional layers with crisco and a first cook with bacon.

    Looks great now.

Don't sent back the lid if you do. The new lids have the shitty plastic handles as opposed to the old cast enamel ones.

It doesn't have that handle unfortunately.

Does it have the plastic handle or just no lid? If it has the plastic handle your friend didn't give you a pot from the 60s, well, at least not a lid from the 60s.

I realize it has the concentric rings on top which puts it post '72. It has the rubberized knob and the letter size code.
