    Geniunely curious why you are using a tundra maf sensor instead of rescaling the stock sensor. It's just a hot wire MAF. You could make "any" hot wire maf work rewiring it but it will not change your scaling in the ecu at all.

    Also be careful which one you buy, some of the newer Toyota MAFs are frequency based not voltage based.

    Nice R & D Roost!

    I still plan on going this route with stock MAF and larger housing. If we can get it to work with the software, it would require less modding to the intake setup. But it's always nice to see different options and tackle the same problem from different directions!

    But it doesn't take the scaling in the ecu at all. You'll still be limited to the same 324 as before, it 2.5 volts, 3.0 volts etc will still reference the exact same g/sec on the maf scaling as before.

    I'm sure JustDSM is pointing you guys in the right direction but this is not how to scale / tune MAFs. You don't swap sensors. That's what we used to do in the 90s before it was well understood.

    Can you not use techstream to push the next updated calibration to your ECU? I thought it was like updating the firmware on a router or in a way an OS update for your phone. Maybe its not as easy as I think it should be. :notsure:


    Edit: just saw that hptuners said there is not an update to your ecu. Can't push an update, if there's not an update.

    I'm not being a Debbie downer at all. Just saying everything you guys are trying to accomplish can be done in software.

    5 volts is 5 volts regardless of what sensor you put on the truck. Think about it. What tells the ecu what g/sec is 5 volts? The scaling, not the sensor.

    The sensor is all analog. You could feed the ecu a fake voltage it doesn't know the difference.

    At most it's swapping to larger housing + sensor, but that can be done via software and stock sensor...

    The whole tuning thing is new to me so I figured using the Tundra MAF and also using the Tundra scaling would be easier than figuring out the scaling of the stock MAF in a larger tube. Just copy/paste of the Tundra table into the Tacoma.
    Also, a lot of people want to have an oem stock look while still allowing the headroom and flow of the larger intake.
