I was just out near there this past weekend. If you go a couple of miles down , there is FR1316 that is on the right, right after the Sharp Creek Campground. It's a little hard to see. It should be fine for your 2WD OR. I went in pretty far back and it was pretty cool to explore. on google it shows as Christopher Mt Fire Control Rd. If you want to do dispersed camping there is some cool spots in there. We got a cool spot next to a creek in there.

    Edit: spelling

That weekend I'm headed up above the Rim to Blue Ridge campground or Rock Crossing if Blue Ridge is full. Really close to Blue Ridge reservoir and E. Clear Creek. Welcome to hit that spot with us if you want. Lots of 2wd FS roads up there as long as it is not still super muddy.

My woman (about as high maintenance as you can get) used to be adamant about having bathrooms, but after she's actually seen the bathrooms they have at the campsites (basically port-o-pottys) she's much more about the disbursed camping now. As long as it's not more than 3 days. I will say that when we camped at one of the Grand Canyon campsites, it was really nice having actual bathrooms and showers really close by.

The area I mentioned is really close to Christopher Creek campsite, maybe 5 minutes to the turnoff, you can definitely go back and forth throughout the day.

I should also mention that there is a bunch of trails that go off of the main FR with cool spots to explore. The area seems to be used for ATVs/UTVs quite a bit. Bring a tow strap or and/or shovel and you should be just fine. I SERIOUSLY doubt you'll have any trouble with 2WD out there. I only put mine in 4WD to get the juices flowing basically, but it's bumpy enough to make it interesting and not quite a dirt road like FR300.

my original plan this weekend was to camp at one of the actual sites for simplicity, but they were all booked so just went disbursed. There is also a ton of firewood to gather out there too, bring an axe for a workout! :muscleflexing:

If the need for a bathroom is a priority the folding ones that Sierra Expeditions sells work well with their bags. I've used one in the past on a trip in South America

    http://www.sierraexpeditions.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=125

Another luxury item that I bought and use a ton is the Nemo Shower. It's kind of pricey at $100 but that thing is one of my most used pieces of gear. It works great to shower but I use it a lot to wash hands and wash dishes. We do quiet a bit of advanced cooking when we camp so making the dishes process easy rocks. I also use it every time I go paddling to clean off my board or kayak.

No problem! I know how it goes, my gf had never been camping before we started dating so when I took her I made sure everything was pleasant as possible lol I told her over time I was going to start taking things away until next thing she knew we were backpacking.

She said one of the biggest things that she liked is that we had a great sleep setup. Years ago I had a RTT and it really just didn't work for me. I now ground camp but after a recommendation from @Adventurer_Alex I bought a Sierra Designs Backcountry bed duo and it has been amazing. I'm embarrassed on how much that plus the two sleeping pads cost but its like having a damn Sleep Number bed outside. Each person has their own sleeping pad so if you move you don't feel it and can have different firmness. The double sleeping bag is great for cold nights when you want to get close but still big enough where we don't have to touch each other if we don't want. We've used it on a kayak camping trip and it is lighter than two down bags and packs smaller. I bought mine with a 20% and a gift card and the sleeping pads I had one and bought a second.

That’s badass. We were just looking for mattress pads too. We had our old 2 person tent & bought an 8 person just for the room. Looking for mattress pads now. Thx for that! Lol yea the gf here also never went before, still have to get her used to going alone & stuff. She’s afraid of bears & what not lol
