I changed the whole airbox assy including the sensor, so the MAF is already calibrated to the tube diameter, and the scaling was taken directly from a Tundra. I used the Tundra scaling values and input into the Tacoma ECU. Am I missing something here?

Since you want to be snarky when I'm just posting MAF 101 tuning.

Explain to us why swapping the sensor is better than rescaling stock sensor????

What I am saying is its not even necessary to change the sensor when you resale the stock for larger diameter tube. It's MAF 101

I even posted a maf equation for this. I'm trying to be absolutely respectful and give help how I can. Snarky comments aside this is my day job for 10+ years.

I'm glad WE were able to do all the testing to get this figured out. This was totally my idea. @Torspd knows. :D

I'll show you my point . I am doing a 2nd Gen SC truck on 4 inch maf and STOCK maf.

I'm just asking why. No reason to grab pitch forks.

If you’re genuinely asking, it’s not that using the Tundra setup is “better” than rescaling the stock MAF in the larger housing. It’s for 1) to test. 2) because it’s already factory calibrated and gives known values for every reference voltage. It’s about elimination of variables when you’re making adjustments to other parameters. 3) it can offer some folks the OEM “appearance” while still allowing increased headroom in airflow.

It’s just another way to skin the cat.

Any reason why you went with 4"?

I got a 3.5" housing...some of the local shops I talked to suggested 0.5" larger would be plenty for scaling....but admittingly, they've never tuned these Tacomas.

Yes I was genuinely curious, because it's a method people used to do years ago before calibration was well understood.

And FYI, so we can get this out of the way right now. This thread, from the looks of it and comments is about using HPTuners and making tunes.
I'm a tuner, and also a car enthusiasts. This isn't "justDSM tuning" thread.

I don't want to see people get stuck or go backwards and have no problem giving tips or helpful hints. I literally posted dyno tuned VVT tables. That ain't free for me to make those tables. So if you want to be assholy to me for simply asking questions, go make your own thread.

In reality 3.5 is plenty but 4.0 was chosen.

Fact is there is a 65535 16 byte limit on the maf scale so regardless of tube you'll never get past the byte limit which translates to 4xx g/sec (don't quote me on that I have to double check exact amout)

I'm not here to start any BS. Just watching from the side and inputting years of experience where I can.

@JustDSM has gone above and beyond to help most of us.

My honest opinion is you’re the snarky one. But thanks for the help, tho.

I'm not, at all trying to be. Simply asking why, because it's rarely done these days as a tuning method, and almost always for the wrong idea. (Rescaling maf cal).

All I can suggest is maybe use a lighter touch. It helps keep everyone’s blood pressure down at healthy levels.

I have already added LTFT enable/disable params for Tundra and will add for Tacoma (i'm building a list of params to add to all definitions). Unfortunately Toyota has no scanner function to reset fuel trims, i have checked :(
