So i installed my 5100s a few days ago and the upper rubber bushing will not compress any more. And it feels like I bottomed out the shock stem because the nut just turns now but doesn’t go anywhere. Any advice on what to do would be great. I held the top of the stem with a box wrench while tightening the nut.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
You have to hold the top of the stem with vice grips and then use a box wrench to tighten the nut... If not, you're just spinning the shaft of the shock.

    What hasn't been modified?
Did you have any left over hardware?
Might have missed a bushing or washer

Don't know what to tell you then. That's how it's done.

How far are you trying to tighten that nut? The bushing doesn't look expanded into the washer as much as I normally like to have, but you have an aweful lot of threads showing already.

No I used all the hardware and followed instructions. I’m more worried about the nut coming off than anything.

I know. I’m just worried that if the nut is bottomed out or stripped then it will pop off later on down the road.

    Not enough to list
So you have the washer on the bottom to sandwich the rubber bushing?

Looks like you’re missing the washer below the rubber bushing

Would you worry about the nut coming off if it bottomed out on the stem or got stripped on the thread?

Did you check and see if the bushing inside the top hat is still glued in there? I know it seems like a no brainer but that's a lot of thread showing with absolutely no bushing squish on top. If you say you used the provided hardware and followed the instructions, you shouldn't have any problems.

    ...stuff
Top bushing doesn’t look very compressed... probably needs to go tighter

I'm thinking OP is missing a part. He's showing an aweful lot of theads for the bushing not to be spreading out.
