Riding in Santa Cruz on Saturday if anyone wants to join

 

Yeah, nothing quite like having a lack of brakes to show one just how fast you really can bomb those descents... I'll admit to having a foot out in the turns a few times...

 

I'm pretty bad for bike mech work so I don't have anything to recommend. Hopefully you don't have any issues though

Though envious of your fitness level I don't understand how roadies/gravel grinders/XC guy stay in the saddle and grind so long

Free beer and burritos! I mean.. I got a couple of new, blingy stem caps for the win... but "Will race/climb/suffer for beer..."

The seated climbing/grinding is just tapping deep, deep into the well of self-discipline, coupled with hours and hours of exhaustive training on the rollers, squats with my TRX straps, trail running at least one night per week, etc.

In all honesty, my after work bike rides are my drug of choice... riding, suffering, pushing my pain threshold higher are how I purge all the stress built up throughout the day because I cannot legally/ethically punch the people that repeatedly come to me with stupid and senseless questions.

 

If you have disc brakes, be sure to put service blocks in them while traveling.

 

Finally got around to swapping my new DVO diamond fork and putting on the TRP quadiam brakes. I had to adjust the travel on the diamond from 170 to 150 for my Scout. The shimano bleed does not actually work (like they claim) on the TRP brakes so I need to do a bleed before I hit the trails. And my other steed. Ignore the boxes I pulled down in the background, didn’t feel like putting everything away until I get the brakes bled.

 

I love my DVO Diamond fork. Very tune-able without having to get into the shim stacks Is this your first bit of DVO suspension kit?

Yes it is my first bit of DVO, so far I love it. I love the ability to easily adjust the travel and the suspension set up doesn't seem too complicated. I can't wait to really test them out.

Yes, thanks for asking. I have done a bunch of star nuts in the past, I just hate doing them. I forgot who it was that said it, but I tried the socket method and it worked pretty good.

Nope. Dont buy the KB Voodoo bars if you want to use front loaders. I bought the older Yakima bedrock system for my crossbars and my front loaders and it has been perfect. The KB Voodoo bars dont lock either. Nothing against his stuff, but I want my stuff to lock. Anyways Heres a link to what I got.

Youll need a pair of 66 inch yakima round bars too. The towers come with locks.

how do you get the bike out with the rack there?

 

FWIW, its available with security hardware. Plus, you can buy that at fastenal, etc. Itll take longer to remove, than a small tumbler lock cylinder.

Nothing is truly secure

 

Same setup I have. You can also fit a skybox in between the bikes. It’s nice to have dry and secure storage as well.

Just a guess.. lower the tailgate? Kinda the same deal as having a topper.
