I see Ford just bought a EV company.

 

It looks like Ford invested $500 million into the company.. They didn’t buy the company..

That is the problem with Tesla, the whole auto sector is on their front door now. They may beat everyone to autonomy, but it won't be by much.

Me too. I bought some in my IRA too when it was down, and I sold it a week ago because I don't like messing around too much in my IRA. Still have it in my regular account though, so I am happy.

 

I just got the email that my order for 100 shares of SAN executed. Nice 6% dividend

 

I have tried learning about it but it is too confusing to me.

 

I am sitting up $5 a share on PINS hoping it keeps going. It makes up for buying a stock TGLO so long ago (maybe 15 years ago) that I can't find out what I paid ( about $450 for the shares now worth $3.40). Sold ACB last month made some money on that. Sitting on 2 others that are under water just hoping to break even on one and catch the other going up some to lower my losses.
I got on to my old Scottstrade account last year, now it's Ameritrade. Had a few bucks in it and just messing around on it.

 

Options are a lot of fun. It is a lot more like educated gambling than investing in my opinion. I jump in here and there when I think I see something. Options are the number 1 way to blow up an account though, so be careful.

I'm going to pick up some Ford if today's 10% rise is given back.

 

I wish I had started a position in F when it had an 8% yield. I can't believe I missed out on that. Still not bad though, gonna keep watching it..

 

I was thinking of selling my Ford with this emissions investigation then jump back in with the presumption that it will dip.

Curiosity questions on the dividend payouts,

do you still get paid the dividend if you sell after the announcement date?
Does it just show up in your ameritrade account one day?
Do they even pay dividends if your position is too small?

 

Below is some info on when you have to own the shares to get paid the dividend. It just shows up in your account as cash. My brokerage actually allows you to send it directly to your checking account if you choose to. That's the goal, get the dividend payments big enough, send them to checking account, stop working. You will get it no matter how small it is. Even 1 share will get you a dividend payment. You can go to the stock online and find out the ex-dividend date if you're trying to time a sale.

The ex-dividend date for stocks is usually set one business day before the record date. If you purchase a stock on its ex-dividend date or after, you will not receive the next dividend payment. Instead, the seller gets the dividend. If you purchase before the ex-dividend date, you get the dividend.

Just looked at my account, wishing I had bought more Ford when I was contemplating it the other day. Still happy I have some right now.

 

Everyone wishing they had more F, and here I am holding a full position in MMM, yesterday was brutal.

 

It is been a while since F had a good day . I'll take it and see upgrades coming soon so it should keep going up . It makes up for another painful T earnings report , even though I did not think it was as bad as the stock reacted .
Edit , 50 dma crossing the 200 dma today . Golden cross ? I just do not like the gap up today , as it usually gets filled at some time in the near term .

 

Exactly! That's why I prefer to be the house and sell them. Sold 30 AMZN 1897.5/1900 Bull Put Spreads for a 1.17 credit Tuesday. At risk $3,990 ..... Max profit $3,510 Break Even of 1898.83 Just closed it out for 0.03 for a profit of $3,400 in three days

 

No worries I have shares of Ford in my retirement account that is going nowhere- going to hold that for awhile- its my little Ameritrade account that I think of playing with my 200 shares.-

 

yeah, i've got about 550 i'm thinking about selling since I've got the dividend locked in on them and buying back next slip.

then i'm trying to time the market and will probably miss out. decisions decisions.
