Is there any way to still get the old style? Maybe if you called to order and requested it?

Has anyone with the cheap bumper managed to fit the stock skid plate back on? Modify the support brackets? Would like to have some rock protection under there. 2011 trd sport

I might have to get a front one after we hear back from the body shop.

You can make it fit but the support brackets will fight you pretty hard, but absolutely doable. As for the skid plate, break out the angle grinder.

So, the stock skid doesn't just bolt back up after installing one of these? Where is the interference?

The parts of structure where the stock splash guard mounts are actually removed from the truck to fit on the bumper. Not possible without modifications to that sheet metal.

We got a $600 front bumper. Buy a damn $200 real skid with the coin ya saved. Duh!

Nope, you lose the front bolt positions and almost half of the skids.

I used the overhang underneath the new bumper as a leverage point which in turn raised the front of both skid plates and causes a little interference with the support brackets.

Got it. So, aftermarket skids will bolt up without issue though?

Ordered one today along with a grill from rockauto. About twice the cost of parts to go back factory but half what the body shop wanted.

He’s just making fun of the grass deflector Toyota has branded a “skid plate”. Unless of course yours did have something not stock that will protect the undercarriage from rocks

@nano99 can you please post some pics of the square pods in the fog housing? I am debating on getting the SAE Rigid fogs and I'm curious about the look. Thanks in advance!
