Has anyone had experience with skinny 34-35 inch tires? I'm currently running 255/85R16 and like the benefits of the skinny tire. But I'm starting to feel like I'm out growing these tires and would like to go taller.

In the next year I'll be getting the OME 2.5 lift with SPC UCAs. And then a year after that I'll be getting the gears done, 4.88/5.29 depending on tire size. I'm all for cutting and trimming if I have to.

i also have 255/85/16 BFG KM3. (33.1") i like em! I feel I need to re-gear (MT) or get more power.
i have 2.5-3" Stage 3 ICON lift, no trimming. I rub a little while off road, by little, i mean every once in a while, so maybe a plastic trim later...we will see.

I run 34x9.5 r15 super swampers on my fj 40. They are by-ply and are not a good road tire, great at 10psi in the dirt; not good on the road.

I've got the skinny 34x10.5r17 KO2s with BP-51s, JBA UCA and they required no cutting and trimming. My well liners did see some action this weekend though.

Nope. Previously ran 265/70/17, and I honestly can't tell the difference.

If you are running a skinny now I’m not sure what benefit you will really get from a taller tire other than looks.

Also be careful with advice from 2nd gens, they have a different drivetrain and have different tire fitment restrictions.

    Unfortunately, the 34" BFG measures a lowly 33.1" when mounted on a 17 x 8" rim.

I'm looking at running 35x10.5R17 Swamper SSR Radials. They are large for a 35" tire. Great off road, better on the road than they should be... but that is subjective.

I have the 35x10.5r16 radial swamper on my option list. In theory it should be easier to fit than a 315/75r16 or 35x12.5r16. The rub is that the swamper is significantly more expensive than the dick capek 315 that is also on my option list.

Has anyone run 285/70/17 and then went to 34x10.5r17 and can report MPG differences? I know there are a ton of variables with that, but looking for a ballpark range. Thanks

i like the added ground clearance and rhe way they look but I think they suck on the road, they feel a lot more unstable...even E rated.

I agree with joeCOVOVA, most wheeling you want some width for a better footprint.
To each their own I guess.

I can’t give you any numbers, but I’m skeptical that, other factors constant, that a 10% difference in tire width is going to a significant difference in fuel economy. I also don’t think you are likely to find anyone else to give you a better answer. YMMV.

I figured the taller tire would have more of an effect, but you are probably right about the small difference. Just curious if anyone has run both and could comment

Kenda Klever R/T. I like them, but they're pretty heavy for narrow tire and don't come in C range.
