I have seen many threads about tires and rims here....i am just curious if i can put 265x70 17's on my stock 2016 TRD Sport DCLB and not have any rubbing or have to put a lift.....dont do off road, just minor dirt trails maybe twice a year.....
Second question, what would the recommended tire be for me.......97% street/freeway driving

    thanks in advance

you will be fine with that tire size. Good luck choosing a good tire, so many choices!

You eat well it sounds like no matter where you are! I have a Traeger, the kids love the chicken and burgers. My truck camping grill is a Napoleon Travel Q.

I just put that exact tire size on last week. No rubbing at all. Same exact model Tacoma as yours, except in super white. I’m loving the new look with the Falken Wildpeaks. Running these tires at 35 PSI cold. Haven’t adjusted it lower since the install. The ride is a bit more bouncier than the stock Firestones.

Yes, possible rubbing on the mudflaps. This happened to me, so I just took them off

Oh and on the tire recommendation, I have bfg ko2s in the C rating and they have been pretty good. I just picked up another set. I made the mistake of not rotating on time and not getting them balanced last set and had some bad cupping. They lasted me 40k miles and still had a good amount of tread left. The cuuping was to severe so had to get a new set. I've heard many great things about the falken wildpeak at3s and those come in the SL rating which is one or two below C rated in plys I believe. Also nitto ridge grapplers too come in SL at that size.

It won’t rub mud flaps. They are close to the fronts at full turn but no contact

Also look into nitto terra grapplers, great tires

I had that exact same size tire on my truck, nitto Terra grapplers, and mud flaps with no rub. So you’ll be good

I have a 2016 sport as well. Been looking at new tires too. So the 265 70/17 nitro grapplers will fit in the stock sport rims? Or did you replace those?

I do not have a sport but yes they will fit. That’s the biggest tire size you can run without modification.

20171201_002444.jpg Had 265/70/17 Terra Grapplers on for 30k miles with no complaints. Great traction for an all terain and still in good shape after 30k. Change to is 255/80/17 is only reason I'm not still running them. Good looking tire too...
