level 1... what would be the advantage of the leaf pack over the block and AAL that comes with it? stiffer ride? better for off-road? I won't be doing any heavy wheeling... just everyday stuff, the occasional camping trip and 4 months of snow on the roads in town where I live, but this is my daily driver so I'm not rock crawling or anything...

Thanks for your input... how much (guesstimate) would leaf packs run me?

you can get a set of 6" Alcans made for 500 plus shipping.

blocks induce axle wrap and the leafs should solve that problem.

I am putting the Fabtech on my truck in two weeks and I ordered longer brakelines which should let me avoid using all of those brackets and bending the stock hardlines that the instructions show

    good luck with the install

Ok thanks, did you order steel braided lines then? I would rather not bend the stock hardlines either...

3" lift using Fox Shocks Coilover, Total Chaos UCA's. Running: Duratrac 285/70/17 Rear suspension just a 1" block for now. Will have custom rear springs no block. Fox w/ Resi.

^^ Yeah what Justiin Said. If you want to go a little cheaper use Old Man Emu 2.75 leaf packs for $400 and a 1 inch block if you want. I would be more concerned with Axel Wrap then anything. Its a better ride, I just dont like the stock leafs since mine are already squeaking and OME is a better ride.

I love the look of a 6" lift but I am afraid of all the problems it could create on components. Don't want to spend a ton on the lift and wheels/tires and then run into complications further down the road

    like what?

it actually creates less problems on your truck than 3" suspension lifts...

You have to buy extra things like brake line extensions and it gets way more expensive than a 3". What about stress on the CV? I've heard 3" lifts can cause stress on the CV so wouldn't a 6" cause even more?

I think the 6 causes less because it actually retains the factory angles, because it utilizes a drop down box, so angles stay the same. While the 3" lifts (all or some I don't know) extend things and use spacers...

maybe someone better jump in who actually knows what they're talking about haha I really don't know too much...

no.... the front diff is dropped thus the cv angle stays the same as stock.

3" lifts do not use a drop bracket which allows you to lower the front differential

So did you do any break line extensions or just as you said, completely as the kit comes? I'm nervous about the break line thing, deciding whether to order some stainless steel braided lines or not, would love to know what you did

Differential drop is a part of the 6" lift. You would need to purchase a diff drop with the 3" to reduce the stress on the CV.
No need to purchase additional brake line extensions for the 6", just bending of the hard lines as described above.

Either way you go 3" or 6" you are going to end up spending alot more money than originally planned. New wheels, tires and shorty antenna are first thing. New stainless steel brake line extensions. Then new leaf springs. Then new gears and bigger tires. Other new cosmetic items like bumpers. And before you know it you will want a supercharger more than anything.
Can't forget all the problems and maintenence items that can occur and have occured with many (except the lucky ones). Broken CV joits, wheel bearings going bad, tires out of ballance and wearing quickly, propeller shaft vibration, brake pads or rotors wearing down quickly, etc.

I love my 6" lift though and wouldnt have gone any other way except Fabtech (unless I wanted to spend alot more money).

I have RCD 4.5" drop bracket lift... I did use extended brake lines in the rear however I did not "need" too since the kit comes with a relocation bracket. The procomp/fabtech 6" kits also have relocation brackets.

Extended Brake lines were really simple to install

I thought about either using 5100s with AALs or getting the 3" OME from ToyTec with new UCAs. I wouldn't be doing much off-roading, I just like the look a lot better than stock. Trying to avoid any problems that come with lifting the vehicle.

I still have plenty of power with my 33's in my 6-speed but with everyday driving, stop and go, I feel like I am wearing the clutch. I have to bring up the rpms to get going from a stop. More than I think I should. Feels like I have no power on the low end. Once I am going, no problems at all.
Re-grearing will give that extra bump in the beginning.
Reprogramming the MAF for the intake and exhaust might help out too.

Quick question: I'm dropping my truck off on the 23rd to get my Fabtech lift installed. They will be doing an allignment as well. If I dont like how the truck sits after I've drove it for a few days and let the springs break in, can I adjust the coilovers without it messing up the allignment? I think it should be fine, but I just want input from someone who knows more about this stuff than me.

Anytime you change the ride height you will want to get an alignment. Not so much for the handling, but for the tire wear.

Thanks for the input. I've just seen some trucks on here(can't remember any in specific) that have the 6" lift, but its front looks WAY lower than the rear. I didn't want to have to correct that with mine, and then go get another allignment.
