So check this out. I have JBA upper control arms. Would those work as a start to a long arm kit?

I REALLY wanna stay away from uniballs

You can - it's limiting the ability of what your truck can do by a lot when you don't get the performance related up travel in the rear from going sua. Lots of guys go half at a time and never complete the process and end up selling their kits off with the truck at a huge loss or swap their stock stuff back on to sell the kit at a smaller but still significant loss when they want a different truck. Though some guys do complete their truck eventually too. Mid travel top of the line stuff would run you less with only uppers - do you plan on hitting up Michigan lake or the desert in your truck a lot or more fire roads in the northeast / south?

Yea I have a list of problems with mine and they just finished making the part I need after like 2 months so I can’t go in until May 8 but they seem like they’ll actually fix the problems but oh man the trips I’ve had to miss out on... I wish I would’ve saved a little more for a TC or dirt designs kit. They seem like they don’t have problems like these...

Most of those shops work assembly line style
Where as solo’s ability to shine and what gives them their reputation is when they build your vehicle completely
Where they can fix mistakes easily rather than refunds and replacements

Going to be me soon going with the TC Race Kit. I cheaped out and learned my lesson.

Good thing is I have all the parts now and still am not too deep in, so all is well.

Don’t feel too bad. No kit is perfect and every truck has its own issues. My dirt designs kit wouldn’t align at first. Could only get like 1 degree of caster. I ended up having to cut the bushings off the uppers and weld in heims for more adjustment.

Then my tie rod started rubbing the coilover. Talked to dirt designs and they said it can happen on some trucks. Fixed it once when I added more caster then I lowered the front a little and was contacting again. Had to machine down the misalignment on the coilover and put a spacer in there to move it back a 1/4” or so.

Now I have it all dialed in and my uniballs are already getting noisy. Only a year old....

Is it a PITA? Yes. Is it worth it in the end? Certainly.

Shhh... no bad juju for me ! Haha
I promise myself I will complete the back half of my truck in the next 3 years, as I finish the last 2 years of college and then get a real job.
Pat myself on the back with a set of links from dirt designs :D

If you mean: copy his design to make a version with the right length, then yes, you should be able to do that, and use the ball joint upper.

I'm not sure if you'd get enough range of motion out of that joint thought. And you'll still want a heim joint on the UCA, and probably a uniball LCA.
