Which front camera make/model and where mounted on 2018 Limited

I put this in on Saturday. I had put a camera in the chicken wire above the toyota emblem above the TSS. Picture from this was like looking through a toilet roll.
I put the nakita camera in the center hole [there are three] under the front bumper. Fit just fine. Camera appears to be built well.
The TTG2 kit is a no brainer and easy as hell. The wiring through the firewall was a bitch.

 

Can you post a picture of your front camera display? I’m considering moving mine but I wanted to see the view first. Thanks!

I mounted my camera this afternoon on my 2017 Limited. I also wanted a centered location, but wanted to stay above the bumper. I chose the location shown in the picture, mostly because I couldn't come up with any better idea to remain with a centered placement. I don't have the wire routed through the firewall yet, and the HU is not yet secured back in place.

 

Looks good! If you go through the firewall on the passenger side you shouldn't have to cut or create a hole, just cut the end off of one of the nipples on the boot and run wires through that way.

 

Yes, I've seen several recommendations to go through the passenger side. Have you actually done it? My truck has some cabling going through the center of that passenger side grommet, and nothing though the top or the bottom nipple. I was wondering... if I go through the bottom nipple it might be easier to reach inside the truck (since it's about 3 inches lower to the floor) but if I go through the top nipple it should have less interference from the carpet and padding (since that extends up from the floor). Which do you think is easier?

 

I did not know about the passenger side grommet when I did the cabling for my camera, but I did go through it when I installed my Pop N Lock. Instructions for the Pop N Lock say to go through the floor board grommet, but I live in Ohio and don't want to give winter salt water any avenue to get in, so I went through the bottom nipple on the passenger side grommet. Using some dish soap as lube, it was easy to get through. I don't believe I had carpet in the way, but I did remove the kick panel cover since you have to do that to tap the Pop N Lock in anyway.

Perfect... that looks almost just like the one I just pulled through for the Natika camera. I used some

$17 Aladdin Magic Lube II Silicone - 5 oz.

silicone magic lube from my swimming pool to help pull the wire through. It was tough and I was really concerned about breaking the camera wires, but it works after pulling them through. I'll try to post a couple of pics later.

 

I managed to get this pretty much finished up this afternoon.

Camera wiring enter through passenger side firewall.
I put split-loom tubing over everything after the pics were taken.


This is where the wiring enters inside the cabin.
I think the task would have been impossible without removing the kick panel.

No sir. But I find myself often parking too far away from things that disappear behind the high hood on these Tacomas. The 2009 I had before didn't have that problem. I finally got around to solving it on this vehicle.
Many people that install these cameras seem to like to have them pointed almost straight ahead. I wanted mine pointed more downward for up-close parking. I can see stuff straight ahead and far away by simply looking through the windshield.

 

When you wired the switch from anytimebackupcamera with BLUE and GRAY wires for illumination, what did you connect them to? Gray is ground, and Blue +12v? Did you splice them into existing illuminated switch?
Why do some ppl add a fuse? With my kit I didnt have to do it and it freaks me out because of lack of knowledge.

I use it to pull into spots as far as possible, just like I do with the rear camera if I back in.
