I guess when they see new ones for 50K they think that's a deal. I found an 04 LJ for 9K with 125K miles. I would love to have another Jeep. I will say, after driving the Tacoma......I don't think I'd go back to DD'ing a TJ/LJ again.

 

I think Tacomas are the new Jeep Cherokees; cheap, plentiful and a lot of ghetto people are driving them now.

 

9k is a steal for that LJ

 

This is the first truck I have ever owned. I keep vehicles for a long time. I'm 40 and have had a 95 4runner(95-2002), 98 Grand Cherokee(02-09), TJ(09-18), and the Tacoma(18-present). Had a 65 Mustang for about 6 months when I turned 16. It was retired to the garage and my folks got me the 4runner...….even kept the 65 for 10yrs

 

It looked to be clean too. Still in stock form.

 

I think an alternative to converting my Taco to 4wd is getting a TJ/LJ and DDing the Taco.

 

Or just do both I definitely wouldn't want to beat the shit out of my DD.

 

Haha, I'll convert the Taco, soup up a Jeep, and DD a Tesla. (A guy can dream)

 

Might as well convert it. No one around here will even look at a 2 WD truck.

I honestly don't have much of a need for a 4WD, but it was a "must have" for me. I've come to realize I'd rather have it and not use it. In the year I've had the truck, I've put it in 4WD just to use it and move the parts around. I haven't needed it once.

 

Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it....

 

Oh it's not any different here. I'm going to convert it regardless. At the very least it'll be a fun project. But it'll help make winter driving a bit less sketchy(fun), too.

Did 2nd Gen tacomas ever come with manual hubs? It makes the conversion loads easier if you can take the short cut and skip all the electronics.

Nope. Only 1st gens and older. I don’t believe the later 1st gens even came with them. I had a 2000 with manual hubs.
