Fuel economy ??? Poll

I get 18-19 when I drive it hard at all on the tank. If I baby it the whole time I can eek out 20-25 - and that's in the city, in winter, with the manual transmission

For all those bitching about fuel economy - have you tried a light foot?

 

They'd just exchange it for bitching about their foot.

 

I'm averaging about 11.5-12.5 L/ 100 KLMs and 13.5L/ 100 KLMs when pulling my pop-up camper.

 

I’m getting about 18 in town but for any trips that doesn’t involve a lot of breaking like the highway, I’m getting 23 on average. So sometimes a little more...then I hit a hill and a little less. Just depends.

 

Was getting about 20 with stock size H/T tires in mixed driving. Switched to 265/75R16 Duratracs and now get about 17.5

 

19 to 19.5 in town running E rated 265/75r16 tires. Running 300lbs of armor and OVTune. Everything else is stock.

 

That’s not bad! I need OVTune apparently

 

Mid 17s average, 3 mile commute to work, Pittsburgh PA

 

I just can’t get more than 15-18. I’ll admit I don’t drive softly but some of you all must be driving real soft to hit these numbers.

 

Bone stock plus some running boards and a soft tonneau cover my fuelly average over 13k miles is 19.1 mpg. I drive with ECT on and I do about 50/50 highway and city driving. Pretty awesome as far as I'm concerned.

 

I drive approximately 60 miles round trip almost every day to / from work. Mostly freeway driving. I set my cruse on 68 MPH and just watch the world go by.

 

15ish most days..

 

Overall avg for 45k was in the mid 23's, not bad. Now in a 4 cyl and will see if that improves. Snapshot of the first few months

 

Worst 17, best 24. 70% city/30% highway. Northern Commifornia.

 

That must be the problem. Left hand lane driving running like 75-85 with a roof rack.

 

As an update I'm getting about 17 mpg or 14L/100km. No extra armour but a bit of extra cab weight with tools, emergency and recovery gear and 255/85R16 Coopers which weigh nearly 60lb a piece. I'm also heavy set and so is a regular passenger so that can't help.

i'll say it again. HARD BRAKING. thats a major cause for loss of MPG. i stay on the throttle, keep infront of the gear in hilly 3000k elevation. the moment i get on the brakes hard i notice the biggest spike in fuel consumption. in short, dont use fuel to make momentum that your just going to waste by smashing your brakes hard. after 40k, with bigger clunkier tires, high top century shell and roof bars in the mountains i get high 18's and occasionally 19's. i even got 24 avg on a trip to PA from NC on I-81

 

FCOD - Fuel cut on deceleration. That is when the computer stops the injectors when coasting. Combined with gentle pedal manipulation and not going fast, these are the keys to squeezing maximum fuel economy from electronic fuel injected cars.

 

everyone on here is getting like 15-25 and I'm here getting 11.8
