My state requires front plate. I’d have it on anyway since I pay extra $50 a year for collegiate plates.

I like the way the Nevada legislators write your laws. I stand corrected.

UT law says that a plate is required if a vehicle was equipped with a front plate mount. My dealer didn't drill out the dimples for the screws, so it technically has no front plate mount. I still keep it in the windshield as a bargaining chip if I ever get hemmed up for it, which now of course I will...

Once again the LEO's call that "probable cause" and after they have you legally pulled over they can check you out for most anything. Same thing goes for a burnt out headlight, taillight, license plate light, and failing to signal a turn

Think whatever you want, fact is it helps in alot of hit and run cases. Period. Most people who hit and run lose their license plate/bumper plowing into someone. They rarely pick up the pieces before fleeing. My father is a retired Capt. EMS firefighter. Served for over 30 years and seen his fair share of fatalities from hit and runs. Can't stand the logic from some people who "think" they won't commit a crime and that the laws of society don't apply to them. Truth is, no one knows that the fuck you'll do so, the law applies to all, no matter how bad you think your shit don't stink.

Thanks @verynearlypure for the mention. I hate front plates too but Maine requires them. I originally made a no drill bracket for my own 2nd Gen truck and moved the plate lower. I figured if I had to have a front plate it may as well look decent. 4 years later the TW community has supported me selling 5 different designs for both the 2nd and 3rd Gen Tacoma. For the 3rd Gen I offer a no drill bracket and a flush mount bracket. Links are below in my signature. Yell if you have any questions.

No front license plate required here in Florida, one came with my Tacoma when I bought it new but I like the looks of the front bumper without one.

Good grief, a plate flopping around on the windshield self is 10x worse than a plate neatly mounted (not the OEM big ass bracket) to the front. It looks "junk yard" to me.

I wedged it in the defroster channel and in the crack where the a pillar meets the glass on the pax side. I've taken it on several hundred dirt mile trips and it hasn't moved an inch.

Oh man all that sun and those bright headlights blinding your rear license plate I'm sure it would be very thankful no matter that you would look like a total gaper

I'm not trying to start a big argument here, so don't take it personally, but I'd like to see some data on that. I think the number of cases where having a front license plate helps a hit and run is exceedingly small. If it's so important, why do some states not require it, and my state allows buying your way out of it?

I can see both sides of the debate. I know that I have seen a lot of front plate impressions on rear bumpers around here. If it was a case of hit and run, there would be zero problem finding the owner.

Also at just about any collision, there are scattered remains that no one picks up. Often entier bumpers, so I can see @Freegolf 's side.

OTOH, car on pedestrian hit and runs are the hardest to track down and quite unlikely to leave license plates and such behind. Most other hit and runs that I heard about are parking lot bumps, mostly reversing.

In the end, I am not a fan of metallic front plates given the design of cars these days. There should be an option for vinyls.

I did see this genius mofo the other week:

    IMG_20190321_181530.jpg

That is a damn sticker. It fooled me from that distance until I touched it. Even the 'dirt' is printed on the sticker. I initially thought it was a trimmed down metal plate, which is why I looked closer.

    Genius level mod!

Mine came with a bracket, and NC doesn’t require a front plate. Happy to send to you. ;)

If I can help it, I’ll never live somewhere I have to put a front plate on my vehicle.
