Well, I am usually apartment huntiong, so the first 2 haven't been a concern for me so far.

The last one...I can't stand traditional gyms. I get bored easily, so endless reps and 30 minutes on the treadmill is torture to me. I'd much rather spend a few hours on the mtn bike for cardio, core and legs. Arms, I tend to revert to "prison workouts" aka pushups, pullups, and maybe some dumbbell curls if I have the means.

I have to have a pool. I was basically born to always be in or near water (Poseidon half sleeve rattling around in my brain) and I need the water for cardio. I will still do pushups, situps pullups etc but I need copious amounts of weight. I plan to get back on the bike more, but it's still in my mother in law's basement to be moved.

Yeah, I never got into the whole swimming for sport thing. But gimme access to a wakeboard, scuba equipment, or a pool float and mai tai and I am on board.

You should get back on the bike, get fit, then come visit UT. We can go to moab, ride bikes, and then cruise some trails.

    NOT an issue.

That would be an awesome trip! Count me in for wakeboards, scuba, etc.

We got that here too. Oddly a few decent scuba shops and places to go around here.

    So...

As I was packing up to leave work yesterday, I get called into my bosses office next door. Long story short, he has an opportunity to work part time as a financial adviser, and is a stepping stone to full retirement. His timeline is to be gone effective May 31, but will likely be closer to 30 June.

So that raises a few issues:

    1. That kinda fucks my Canada trip. We talked about it and he seems to think it'll still be cool for me to be gone either my first month in the job or puts him solo for his last few weeks. Neither is a good option. So I am basically calling it "infeasible"

    2. Apparently, the powers that be at the plant level think I am the worthy heir apparent. It'll be curious to see what the corporate level people think. I have a good relationship with them, but I am just on the cusp of being "in the zone" for that role. Plus coming from outside the company ~1.5 years ago, I am still pretty fresh in the eyes of some. The company I work for is a little like the mob. You gotta get "made" before the perks start rolling in.

If I do get the job, it would be more responsibility, but I would enjoy the 20% raise...

    My research includes:
    No HOA
    Garage door size?
    Concrete driveway?
    Closest neighbor?

You gotta have some priorities right?

I was looking at some houses in Bend OR. And then I looked at jobs. :D

So small update. Our plant manager just was on a call with our corporate overlords for an unrelated reason. He wrapped up, comes in, and fist bumps me and says "It's looking favorable. We should have word soon."

    So maybe this will happen.

I'm kinda nervous. There's a big part of me that thinks it might be better to turn down the job, and learn under someone more versed on the company mantra. Our plant is a blacksheep for a few reasons, and so it would make it harder for me to get out of the SLC plant if that's what I wanted.

On the other hand, I want to stay here anyway, so maybe that isn't a bad thing.

Jesus, the SLC market is hot. Trying to find a place for <370K that isn't old as shit and on a major thoroughfare is really hard.

We lost 6 houses to all cash offers, people from California moving here for tech would just throw huge money at the 400k houses we were looking at, last June. We finally nailed one in Sugarhouse and very happy now. Good luck finding a new one!

This is true. I don't want to leave visa. Been here 7 years. Have seniority. But if im not doing so good, the senior management knows my name, and nowhere for me to move to, outside is my only option. Hard for me to figure out this stuff. There is no training. The whole team is new
