This is EXACTLY how mine is, about the same distance off and to the same side.

My bodyshop can fix it at anytime but I just haven't bothered. Its a really easy fix for anyone thats concerned. I had my 2nd gen fixed several times because i was offroading it hard with a shell and kept throwing it off.

Also people seem to have amnesia that this has ALWAYS happened, 2nd gen section is full of hundreds of bed alignment threads throughout the years. The whole "what happened to toyota QC?!" just means you haven't been paying attention lol, either toyota QC ALWAYS sucked or its fairly normal for the industry. Nothing has changed here.

You need to take it to a Toyota dealership that has a body shop. A Toyota Dealership without a body shop wont be able to help you. Its just some bolts you loosen up on the bed though

Let us know the outcome. Is the dealer fixing it or did they send it to a body shop?

Not an exclusive Toyota issue, my Ranger had the same problem. Fix is the same, loosen bed bolts, shift bed to correct position, tighten bolts.

I figured after I installed some D Rings using the bolts. Will undo my work to straighten my bed.

Well after putting some sliders on and wheels on I’m pretty darn sure my cab and bed are over to the drivers side about a 1/4-1/2”. The bed looks aligned with cab, but it all looks off to the drivers side a hair. It’s about a finger width off. The wheels are even distance with the sliders. Which makes me think the cab and bed could just be off. Has anybody had success realigning the cab with the dealer? Worth trying to get fixed?

Do it yourself. Loosen 6 bolts, lean into it straight and torque down. Done

After reading about a bumper alignment issue on one of the other threads, I looked at mine and seen I had the same issue:eek:.

Read about the Bed alignment issue, looked at mine, seen I had the same issue .

Read about the transmission and engine shift problems, yep I have the same issue !

    See a trend here TOYOTA!

I'm starting to feel like the old Carol Burnette show where Tim Conway is sitting in the doctor office and every patient that walk in he get the same symtoms

So today I head to dealership with a list of items for them to correct. And to check my electrical system also as my 3 week old truck has almost left me stranded a half dozen time due to weak battery or other electrical issue.

    End results were:

    1. Battery had a bad cell and had thrown a code, new battery installed under warranty.
    2. Re-aligned the bed after first saying didn't know if it could be aligned, after I explained how to do it said they would check into it. Bed was aligned and now looks correct and measure out, under warranty.
    3. Rear bumper pad were adjusted to have matching gaps. They had to disassembly to adjust and broke the black top step pad, but had a new one in stock and replaced under warranty.
    4. Engine and transmission shifting and low RPM stutter, hesitating, or misses were explained as normal by design. And they admitted by bad design and have had several complaints from Tacoma buyers. Did say that the low RPM stutters and hesitations may be part of the bad battery issue. Will see, but I don't think so. They added my complaint to their growing list of others.

While there I did manage to spend $200 on a new bed mat, window visors, touch up paint, and a receiver hitch plug cover:woot:

I asked that big got no response. So just ensure it’s snug. I also installed D Rings.

I've noticed from day 1 that my 17 trd or passenger tire stuck out quite a bit more than Driver side. It has always bugged me. Thought the axle was off center. Finally after a year of looking at it from different angles I noticed it was the bed. Loosened the 6 bed bolts and shoved it over to the passenger side and problem solved. The first time I did it i got it outta square and had the bumper gap issue and had to do more tweaking. Now it lines up with the cab, bumper and tires poke evenly. Bed moved about 1/2 inch which might not seem like much but it is now showing 1/2 of the driver side tire more and 1/2 less on the passenger side tire than before. Hope this helps.
Now........I hated the way the transmission reacts to Driver input compared to my 14 trd sport. It's like it doesn' have enough power and then downshift and then has more than enough, like the spacing between gears are all wrong. Is this an issue or normal. At this point I've kinda learned to adapt and deal with it. Definitely more power than my 14 just goes about it alot differently. My 14 responded perfectly to Driver input. Kinda miss it but love my 17 also.

Mine was off too. The shop adjusted the bed and then the bumper. Took about an hour and it is now correct. If you adjust the bed first, then the bumper which is easy as well.

I think mine is off only by 1/4 inch towards drivers side, as viewed from the rear and seeing more right tire outside of mudguard. I have tweaked just front and rear of wheelwells, very minor adjustments, it helped but I can see that it still isn't "perfect". I've considered messing with the bed, but then I will have to mess with bumper too, and since the bed to bumper alignment is actually perfect, I'm choosing to just leave it alone. I think I'm the only person that would ever notice it anyways. As far as the transmission, I think it gets into upper gears too fast also, as if you're on ECO mode, but I've learned to adapt my right foot to its shifting. I think the ECT button should have been ECO instead. If you want to drive ECO style, then you push the button to activate instead of the other way around.

Same problem here, 2017 Sport. Dealer said that I had to wait for corporate to decide if they will fix.
    That's San Francisco for you.

Tell the dealership that you associate yourself with a straight bed. They should understand that analogy.
