Lol. But remember diesel boost is very different. I lent my 1 ton diesel van to a friend who’s just used to gas, he came back and said your boost gauge is off or it’s not reading PSI. Max boost is 30psi and engine is stock, just a very slight tune for towing, I think stock tune would get ~26psi.

 

I didn’t know that, but makes sense with higher compression. Thank you.

Any progress on turbo build? Can we still expect release this year?

 

I've really been looking forward to this, but we've had radio silence for quite some time now. Hopefully we're still on track for an FI 3rd gen before long.

Did i miss some important details? Last i read everything was going well. I wish we had more transparency about the process and how close we are to a kit for sale. This is starting to feel like a Magnuson scenario lol

In another post ovtune did mention that Magnuson said a turbo tune was impossible on this engine. Maybe it is.

Damn, I wished I knew the reality of this as I want to purchase a new car to have a sports car, but if my Tacoma had some more umph, I would not get a new car and just slap this turbo kit on it.

 

Kinda in a similar boat need a low mpg DD but unless I can get some more oomph out the taco soon then I’d be tempted to get something cheap small and racey.

 

Im sure that OVtune is working hard on it. as anyone running his tunes can attest his work is excellent so I’d think that he just doesn’t want to release an inferior product.
