Yeah, one of my favorite things is to sit by a campfire sipping Tito's on the rocks. The last few trips I've made I had to sit there in the dark. A propane fire isn't nearly as nice but better than nothing.

Yes, only to tear it apart this morning. The new line going I'm is going to take a couple months. The water being shut off all day is only in emergency situations like yesterday and day before. When the line cracked from hitting it with the backhoe and its 100 year old age.

    Too bad.
That's one of my favorite things as well. Sitting by a campfire on a cool evening.
And it can get quite cool at night in the mountains here, even in high Summer.

    I don't recall a big fire here...ever.
It's hard to set green living deciduous trees alight. Deadwood on the ground notwithstanding.
And leaves on the ground that look dry.. are wet and rotting underneath.
Once in a great while there will be a brief ban on open burning in the township.
And the State Forest Rangers will request no fires except in fire rings at trail shelters on the AT.

About 10 years ago, when I was still on the Board at my club, we had a once in a generation drought.
    Dry, for here anyway.
And a fire started at the rifle range, burned a few acres up the side of Shippen Knob... and went out all by itself.
Killed hardly any trees, just burned dead stuff on the ground.
We have no resources to fight a forest fire here.
The local firefighters came alright, but as you can imagine, they weren't well equipped for that.

There was some discussion of the incident at the next Board meeting...
It was thought likely that some asshole was shooting tracers at the range.

California sees some nasty fires along with Colorado. The last one here (I think the Woolsey fire) burned to the ocean in less than 24 hours. Normally ( yes I say normally) it takes 3 to 4 days to go as far as it did.
Shit happens every few years, that's why I say normally.
The paradise fire up north was moving at a football field a second. Nobody can run that fast.

The water supply system under LA is a mess. 100 years old like you said, and a really big job to renew.

 WNY seams to have really nice weather for a while or really crappy weather. I have seen upper 50’s with rain to mid 90’s and sun in 4 days.
