If you have an accident and you've modified your truck you've put yourself at risk anyway.

Also do you know if the dealer gave you the correct springs (34404) or the incorrect springs (34304)? The recall says you are supposed to get the 34404 springs if you had the harsh ride TSB done. I wonder if you got the incorrect ones.

Finally called in for my TSB leaf springs. My buddy is an adviser there so I told him to just load up the parts in my truck and let me handle the install. Aint nobody got all day to wait for that install! Itll take 45 minutes tops on the lift with some air tools! :D

Did they ask for the old ones back?

Not at all. They loaded up a huge wood box with the springs in them along with hardware. I'll post a picture when I have some time. I noticed that I got the 34304 from the serial number on the side of the box but they are 4 leaf springs. Ive been reading some information on this thread about the two different variations and the tsb has been out for awhile. I'm thinking they updated the 34304 to 4 leafs, which seems contradictory to what some members on here are stating the serials are correlated to in terms of spring quantity.

So what’s the consensus on this new spring recall? I called my dealer the other day to schedule the U joint inspection and the lady on the phone said I was due for the spring recall. I told her I had new leafs installed by the dealer in 2015. I have an appointment next week to get yet another set of springs installed. I have the headstrong AAL on my current leafs. They ride OK and have some arch left to them. Wouldn’t mind having a new set of springs put
In after 4 years but guys are saying the latest springs aren’t as good as the original TSB leafs?? Should I just leave my old springs in? This whole things a bit ridiculous imo.

Here's what I picked up from the dealership today. They also included new shackles, ubolts and the ubolt "retaining bracket" that goes underneath the axle. All in all, it was a measly 10 minutes in the dealership and out.

Oh ok so the regular (34304) springs are now 4 leafs just like the heavy duty ones (34404). Did you get the harsh ride TSB done years ago? It seems like people with the harsh ride TSB done in the past have not successfully received the correct 34404 springs for this recall after skimming a few pages of this thread. This is disturbing.

From the parts I have in front of me, I believe that is true. I never had the E02 done previously and am still on the original leaf springs from 2007 with 170k miles. They're pretty communicative and squeak at even a fly sneezing at my vehicle.

I got the correct ones. I made sure I told the service manager before hand, showed him all the information and I saw it in the scope of work + parts in the receipt. I didn't trust them doing getting the parts so I told him, this is specifically needed to replace my stuff per Toyota's document. But yeah, I opted to get HS 3leaf AAL and Sumo Springs bumpstops to assist in making it last longer before I go full leaf pack replacement. I think that combo are helping a lot with that.

Are we in disagreement about this, or are you adding strength to my argument? Sections of your post in bold for emphasis.

I apologize, didn't realize we were debating something. What was the point that you're asking for agreement? I believe that we are in agreement (not in disagreement?) that a leaf could puncture the fuel tank. Based on the bold statement did I say it could not be other components? That was quoted directly from the recall document and if I said otherwise then I was incorrect.

    No. we are in agreement.

I interpreted your post as "no, it isn't that a leaf can break, but a lack of spring clips..."

Oh, got it. Isn't that self evident? The E02 recall replaces spring packs with 3 clips with ones with 4 or 6 clips.

What are we in disagreement about? You're probably right, I really don't know. Is it that I didn't remember the 4-clip part?

To me the spring clips are a side note to the fact that the recall addressed broken leafs.
