I like my 17' OR, but I'm not crazy about it. After the OV tune, exhaust bypass, and TRD intake and exhaust it's still probably less powerful than a stock twin with I think 305 hp. There's been two different mid-size truck comparisons in the magazines in the last month or so, in one the Tacoma scored last, the other one they really criticized the Tacoma and didn't even bother to include it in the test. The Colorado scored first in both tests. Before anyone screams "But my Tacoma will last 300k miles!", in the latest Feb. 2019 JD Powers survey, yes, Toyota was 3rd at 108, but Chevrolet was 4th at 114, not much difference.
Toyota has been too much resting on their reputation and not innovating much. The Colorado also has an off road model much better than the Pro, and a diesel if you're interested in that.

..."The BIG 3 have nothing on Toyota IMO"...

I agree. For the last couple of months, I've been looking very hard at the GMC Canyon, but I've decided to buy a new Tacoma. The GMC Canyon (and Chevy Colorado) are just plagued with the 8 speed transmission problems. Oh, did I mention there's a Class Action lawsuit going on about that? (Source: https://bit.ly/2VelttR) Ford just came out with their "new and improved" Ranger with the "EcoBoost" motor. Who the hell would want that truck...I'm not sure.

I know right? Last night I had such a hard time sleeping. I’m so restless knowing that there are other trucks out there that have more HP than my Toyota pickup. I have a hard time focusing on work when I can’t shake the thought of JD Powers perspective on something that I own. Honestly, I don’t know what to do. I just wish Toyota would make a midsize with 509hp.

Has anyone seen the "NOT" top of the line Ranger? The average Ranger looks like a Sport model Ridgeline.

First Toyota Tacoma owner here (auto). But the only thing I’d like is a slightly more aggressive shift pattern. It drives nicely with ECT power ON but yeah.
